Y&R: Dylan Being Nikki's Son

On "The Young & the Restless", Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) blurted out that Dylan (Steve Burton) was her son after he and her younger son Nicholas (Josh Morrow) got into a fight. While the audience has known the truth for a time, this is finally causing repercussions in Genoa City.

Nikki wants to have Dylan in her life, as he was the child she gave up for adoption many years ago. This was a rewrite as while Nikki and Paul (Doug Davidson) were in a cult, prior to recently no one thought she got pregnant. Paul and Nikki went on a search for the man and discovered that he had no idea that he was even adopted. Dylan got along with Nikki's daughter Victoria (Amelia Henlie) and son-in-law Billy (Billy Miller). Once Victoria found out that Dylan was her half-brother, she automatically accepted him as they were already friends. I actually found that refreshing, though I understand his reticence. Dylan and Avery (Jessica Collins) having a past were the impetus for Nicholas and Dylan's mutual avarice. Nicholas hating the guy who caused him to be left at the altar is understandable.

Once Victor (Eric Braden) found out that Nikki had asked Paul for help and lied about Dylan he was angry. I can understand his frustration, but Nikki was scared he wouldn't accept what she did. Victor had grown up in an orphanage and had a low opinion of his biological mother, so it would follow that Nikki would worry he would overact to what happened all those years ago.

While I'm not the biggest fan of this rewrite, I do appreciate that we're seeing some fallout from the situation. It would be incredibly boring if Dylan was announced to be Nikki's son and everything stayed the same.
