This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.

GH: Ryan's Bar on General Hospital
For two episodes, Ryan's Bar and Delia Reid Ryan Coleridge (Ilene Kristen) visited General Hospital. The character was last seen on January 13, 1989: the day Ryan's Hope aired its final episode.
Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Silas (Michael Easton) were looking for information on the Jerome family. Back when he was studying, Ava (Maura West) would take him to Ryan's Bar, so they decided to go there. They discovered that Delia was Ava's mother. While Delia knew she had a daughter that she didn't raise, she had no idea about her granddaughter Kiki (Kristen Alderson). Sam also shared that she was related to Kiki as Julian Jerome was her dad. Before they left, Delia shared her phone number to give to Kiki.
This material was kind of surreal. While I don't like what it does to Delia's history, as on Ryan's Hope was pretty clear that she was only with Patrick and Frank prior to the start of the show. Patrick was her high school boyfriend and he decided becoming a doctor was more important than their relationship. Frank, Patrick's older brother and her older brother Bob's best friend, picked up the pieces. I did appreciate seeing Ilene on screen again even if the bar didn't really look like Ryan's Bar. I would be open to bringing the character back again as long as it wouldn't be as a victim of the Jerome crime family. That said it is too bad that Ron Hale (who played Sonny's Dad Mike on GH and Delia's love interest/husband on RH) has retired as I would have been extremely happy to see them act together once again.
