B&B: Stephanie's Story

This past week on the Bold and the Beautiful, Stephanie (Susan Flannery) found out her cancer has spread and is fatal. Here are my thoughts on the first episodes regarding this plot. This includes spoiler-like information.

Stephanie found out about her health failing after she was brought to see Dr. Lewis (Yvette Freeman). While treatment would prolong her life, it would be only for a month. Her husband Eric (John McCook) was there to hear this awful news. He's helping her with her plans for the last few months until she passes away.

Stephanie decides to hold a party for her for her love ones. As part of inviting everyone, she is sharing her diagnosis. Each episode is focusing on Stephanie's relationship with another person in her life.

The first episode was about Stephanie's relationship with her sister Pam (Alley Mills). Pam at first couldn't believe it, and wouldn't share her real feelings with her older sister. Since Stephanie is the one person she had her entire life, she was feeling abandoned. There were clips from the last six or so years, that Pam was on B&B including ones involving their mother Ann's (Betty White) death. The song "The Water is Wide" by Orla Fallon, which played during Ann's passing is part of this sequence of flashback scenes. This episode was written by Patrick Mulcahey.

The second episode was about Stephanie's relationship with Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). The rivals who now see each other as family have been one of the core relationships of the program since the show premiered 25 years ago. There were clips from their first meeting, their fights and how they finally came full circle to love one another. During the skid row sequences, they played the part in which Kristolynn Lloyd (Dayzee) sang "Lean on Me". This episode was written by John F. Smith.

As this story continues, I hope to write about the other episodes. I hope that even though Ronn Moss isn't on B&B anymore that they don't forget her relationship with her first born Ridge. I'm most looking forward to see how they handle Stephanie's relationship with her best friend Sally as Darlene Conley passed away years ago.
