On the June 26, 2012 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope (Kim Matula) finally said "I do" while visiting Puglia, Italy. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) looked on, while Bill (Don Diamont), Ridge (Ronn Moss) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) were part of the ceremony.
The scenes in Italy were gorgeous as B&B went on remote and filmed outdoors in the Puglia, Italy, which I discovered from googling is at the heel of the "Italian boot." What I found kind of amusing was after the ceremony everyone sang Volare, that song is over 50 years old. The fact I even know this song confounds me, but considering the length of its wikipedia page, perhaps this shouldn't be shocking in the least. They had hundreds of Italian extras during the wedding and while Liam and Hope walked through town. Steffy also fell in the water, but that was played for comedy and not drama. I appreciated that as for once Steffy wasn't seriously injured on a remote as it was becoming comical how accident prone she has become.
Bill did everything he could to keep Liam and Hope from marrying and nearly succeeded, while Ridge and Brooke had a wonderful time getting engaged again, though it is a wonder how they could keep a straight face as the term olive was used so many times. Basically Ridge was looking for the biggest one, but in actuality, he was going to hide her ring in the grove.
Bill's master plan was to have Deacon (Sean Kanan) meet Hope, have her fall apart and then the wedding would not continue. Instead of Deacon upsetting Hope, it was the best present she could have been given. Of course, no one at the wedding knew that Bill sent Deacon in Hope's path to wreck her life. Bill even blackmailed a warden in Genoa City to get Deacon out of prison, but once his work was done, Deacon was able to leave freely. Deacon's arrival slowed Hope down enough that she didn't get to the church on time. The car that was to drive her left before she could take it, so she stowed away in an Ape truck that was stopped by road construction. Hope ran in her wedding dress to reach Liam.
Meanwhile, Liam who was heartbroken went back to their hotel room. He saw a note that was meant for Hope from Deacon. Seeing that message, Liam believed the marriage wasn't going to happen. He let Steffy comfort him. Steffy went to Italy as Bill thought this was a good idea, though she nearly left in frustration. Bill believed when something went wrong between Hope and Liam she could be there to help Liam and get back into his good graces. This was recorded on his iPad, which Brooke and Katie (Heather Tom) saw once Liam and Hope got home from their honeymoon. If Liam and Steffy had left right away, they would have been remarried as they would have taken Bill's plane and left Italy. Instead since Liam waited, he found out from Hope what happened and married her.
From how things have been playing out, it looks like Liam and Steffy while admitting their feelings together were not sexually intimate. Of course, since this is a soap opera the program could change its mind at a later date. It would be nice if for once a baby would not get in the midst of a triangle. I'd prefer for Bill not to become a father and a grandfather within the span of a few months.
While I enjoyed Hope and Liam's wedding, I think it wasn't really a reward for fans of the couple. They are married, but on their wedding day, Liam admitted his love for Steffy and nearly ran off with her. I do appreciate that once Liam made a commitment to Hope, that Steffy is no longer fighting for him. She wants to get on with her life and not ruin a marriage. We shall see if Steffy keeps her promise. Since Brooke and Katie both know what happened who is to say whether or not they will keep their mouths shut or tell Hope the truth. The other possibility is Liam having the guts to tell his new wife of his betrayal on his wedding day before someone else tells her. Regardless of how and when Hope finds out she is going to have to deal with the pain and decide whether or not she wants to remain in her marriage.
