Days: Stefano's Been Shot

On the Friday, June 1, 2012 episode of Days of Our Lives, Stefano (Joe Mascolo) was shot. It was a dark and stormy night in Salem and many of its residents were capable of shooting the Phoenix. Here are my thoughts on what we've seen so far, and this does include a bit of speculation based on spoilers.

Kate (Lauren Koslow) was upset because Stefano had a non-compete clause in her contract, so she couldn't work at Mad World. Ian (Ian Buchanan) was with her, and the fact that he "stole" her from Stefano caused her problems.

Marlena (Deidre Hall) also had a gun, and Sami (Ali Sweeney) ran into her, but didn't see it. Sami wanted Marlena to help her with Will (Chandler Massey), but Marlena was too preoccupied. Meanwhile, Lucas (Bryan Datillo) took EJ's (James Scott) gun away from him and later put it in the safe at the Brady Pub. Later in the episode, Lucas and Sami discussed what happened with Will and Marlena, and how the gun was missing.

John (Drake Hogestyn), Bo (Peter Reckell), Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and EJ all had guns. EJ went to confront Stefano, who he recently found out wasn't his father. This turn of events supposedly will be undone when Tomlin is back in charge, which is a good thing. They talked about how Stefano caused Lexie (Renee Jones) to be imprisoned in a cave, and now she is dying of a brain tumor. EJ shot a vase of flowers instead of shooting Stefano. Abe (James Reynolds) came in and went off on his father-in-law over Lexie. The only reason Abe didn't kill Stefano, was due to Lexie and Theo. His wife and son would never forgive him, so he couldn't shoot the older man.

John showed up at the mansion, and went off as well. One thing I find somewhat frustrating is that John and Stefano are blood related (half-brothers) and have this huge long history, but all John mentioned was the safe house. What about making John the pawn, and taking years away from his life. The safe house was only one incident. John didn't shoot either or at least it didn't look like he did, but he wouldn't have felt guilty if he had.

Hope went off on Stefano about the safe house. Again, why wouldn't she have mentioned Princess Gina. That mess was a lot worse than the safe house. Anyway, Stefano tells Hope how she would be in prison for a very long time if she did shoot him. Hope realized he was right, and left before shooting him.

Will, Kate and Bo all went after Stefano and pointed a gun at him. Kate mentioned how Stefano has been controlling her, Bo said he wanted justice, and Will mentioned how Stefano destroyed his life. Stefano made Will leak the information that EJ and Sami had sex. Marlena didn't go with a gun mentioned retribution, but touched the gun on the chess table that was left in the house by Abe. At different times in the episode Will, EJ, Bo, Kate, Hope and John also touched that gun, which obviously was used to shoot Stefano.

Everyone's home was empty and dark, and then we see Stefano alone at the DiMera mansion talking to a picture of Lexie. He listened to Pagliacci, while someone with a gloved hand took the gun and shot Stefano.

From what we know as the story will be changed, Stefano isn't actually dead, so the Phoenix will rise again. Will it be anyone we saw in this episode with a gun or will an unseen Lexie have been the culprit? Since Renee Jones is leaving acting, I wouldn't put it past Days of Our Lives to have Lexie be the shooter committing patricide until we find out Stefano didn't actually die.
