Days: Claire Leaves the Canvas

On July 9, 2019, Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) began to get the help she needed by checking into Bayview. The "Days of Our Lives" character's behavior became erratic, and she had to pay for her crimes. Below are my thoughts.

Claire literally began playing with fire. When Ciara was nearly burned and rescued by Ben in a cabin, Claire started it. She had gone to find her niece/best friend, based on an app sharing the location of Ciara's phone, but decided instead of playing the hero and telling people where Ciara was to set it aflame. The audience didn't know for a very long time that Claire was guilty, we knew it wasn't Ben, as Tripp tried to set him up, but that was it.

Claire continued to become more obsessive about anyone that kept her away from Tripp. She hated losing Theo to his treatment in Africa, but Tripp choosing than losing Ciara upset her too. Claire did get Tripp, but he didn't pay enough attention to her. Then he decides misguidedly to help Haley Chen by marrying her to keep her in the US. Green card marriages are not a good idea, if they aren't for love. Claire became more and more frustrated and wanted Haley gone. Eve played into this and used Claire to get dirt on the fake relationship. Eventually Haley was on the run with Tripp (after JJ got arrested long story) when she was going to be deported. Claire used information from Rory (JJ's stoner friend who could get fake passports.) She went to the cabin, doused it with gas, and set it on fire. Ben rescued them.

Ben figured out that Claire set the fire at the cabin that he was blamed for after remembering her ringtone after hypnosis. It was self-designed, and very unique. Ben convinced Ciara, who convinced Tripp. Ciara and Tripp made believe they got back together. Claire continuing her  unhinged behavior kidnapped Ciara, tied her up, etc. (I've lost count how many times Ciara has been a hostage, way too many.) Claire was discovered, and finally got the help she needed. Eve has known for weeks that Claire was in trouble, but did nothing. Shawn and Belle were in town, and took their daughter to Bayview. The grandparents (Marlena, John, and Hope) and great-grandparent (Victor) were all upset over what happened.

When it comes to the story, I think it was excessive how many times Claire set fires, and how many instances Ciara got kidnapped (and not just by Claire). I hope we get a respite of that for Ciara, and that Claire gets better. Ben was cured at Bayview as was Abby, so you never know.
