Y&R: Chelsea and Connor Leave Town

Early March 2018 brought the departure of Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) and little Connor, below are my thoughts about what happened during this story on "The Young and the Restless".

Chelsea went back to her bad girl ways, not by seducing someone, but stealing money. She made a mirror site of her fashion line, sold knock-offs, and took all the profits. Cutting out Fenmore's and using poor quality fabric gave her a lot of spending cash. She hid it from Nick (Josh Morrow), but the cash was eventually found. Chelsea lied to Nick that it was her late husband Adam's money. Nick and Chelsea had been discussing marriage, but that wasn't to be. They also would have adopted the boys, to make them both theirs.

Meanwhile Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) continued to suspect something. When cornered, Chelsea told Phyllis that Nick wasn't little Christian's father to try and stop her from acting. Surprisingly Phyllis and Sharon (Sharon Case) teamed up, and found out it was true. Chelsea attacked Sharon, and left her injured in Crimson Lights. While Nick was at the hospital. Chelsea went to the ranch, and took both Connor and Christian. She decided to drop Christian off at Victoria's so the boy could stay with Nick. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) had no idea that Chelsea was behaving badly, or that Victor (Eric Braeden) paid off the money that Chelsea stole from Fenmore's.

Victor went after Chelsea, but she had sold her car, and the trail is cold. Anita (Catherine Bach) arrived with a goodbye video for Christian, for his 18th birthday on a flash drive. She told Nick, he could have it for $25,000, but due to his giving away his money, he didn't have that kind of cash. She settled for a ring. Nick watched the video, where Chelsea told Christian who he really was, and how she was out there with his half-brother.

Anyway, so that's how Chelsea left town (her last on air US show was March 2, 2018) though it is wide open for her to return. As of now Adam is still dead, but things change. Hopefully we'll get to see Melissa Claire Egan in a new role soon, preferable not in daytime, as I'd be curious to see how her acting would be in a different sort of part.
