Last week at TCA, Pop like other networks had their new programming announcement. As part of the event, it was confirmed that "Queens of Drama" is dead. Read the news from Deadline.
The show lasted 10 episodes last Spring premiering after the 2015 Daytime Emmys show on Pop. The cast included former daytime performers: Vanessa Marcil (best known as
Brenda on General Hospital), Donna Mills (who most known from her
primetime work on Knots Landing, but early in her career she worked in
daytime & she's been on and off General Hospital as Madeline who eventually went to prison), Hunter Tylo (best known as Taylor on Bold and
Beautiful, but also worked on Days as Marina and Robin on All My
Children, though she went by another name), Crystal Hunt (Stacy on One
Life to Live and earlier Lizzie on Guiding Light), Lindsay Hartley (best
known as Theresa on Passions, but she also was on Days as Ari and Cara
on All My Children), and Chrystee Pharris (Simone on Passions). Joan Collins also appeared on the program as a guest, though now she's part of "The Royals" on E!.
Once Pop didn't air the 2016 awards, and no news came about a second series it seemed inevitable that it was done. Reality shows aren't "live" and the pilot the cast was working on never came of anything. If that had been produced, there would have been a reason for this to continue. Hopefully we'll see some of the people on this show pop up in other venues.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
