GH: Kiki and Morgan's Reception

This week on General Hospital, Kiki (Kristen Alderson) and Morgan (Bryan Craig) celebrated their recent nuptials. Below are my thoughts about the party and its potential aftermath.

Kiki and Morgan married under false pretenses as she had feelings for his brother Michael (Chad Duell) and he was lying about her paternity. Morgan accidentally found out from her mother Ava (Maura West) that Kiki wasn't Franco's (Roger Howarth) child. Silas Clay (Michael Easton) was Kiki's biological father, so Michael and Kiki could date as they weren't cousins. Michael wondered if Morgan was lying, but let it go.

Sonny (Maurice Benard) lied for Morgan about Kiki. This situation damaged his relationship with the now dead Connie (Kelly Sullivan). They were estranged when she was murdered, and if Sonny hadn't kept the secret for Morgan, she may have lived. Sonny's guilt caused him to stop taking his bipolar medication. At the party, Sonny admitted to everyone that he couldn't lie anymore to his son Michael for his other son Morgan. His admission of guilt caused a firestorm. Morgan felt like Sonny loves his older brother more than him. Michael was horrified his brother would have done this also. After the party, Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and his former wife as well as Michael and Morgan's mother Carly (Laura Wright) were there for Sonny. Since Carly had the most experience dealing with Sonny's issues, she did her best to get through to him as the last time he was off his medication things went horribly wrong.

Michael and Kiki are now closer together because of Morgan's lying to her. She wasn't just being lied to by her mother, but also her husband. It looks like their marriage is over, but Michael doesn't want to lose his relationship with his brother. Morgan and Ava commiserated together and had sex. Morgan has joined the "club" of characters that have slept with both mother and daughter.

I think it is interesting how Michael, the adopted son, is the favorite child, while Morgan is ignored. In some ways, it is similar to what happened in Michael's biological family as his biological father AJ was treated as secondary to his younger brother Jason, who was illegitimate. I wish we could see AJ's point of view in this situation. I also think it is too bad that Jax isn't around, since as a stepparent he was more a part of Morgan's life than Sonny. That being said perhaps they will have Morgan go down this negative path and continue to team up with Ava, who is from a rival mob family.
