Soap Stars in Other Places: 1994 Family Feud Episode

Four members of the cast of "The Young and the Restless" competed against four members of the cast of "The Bold and the Beautiful". This aired in the second half of a combined episode that is on YouTube.com. At about 21 minutes, the casts are introduced along with clips of their characters.

This host for this episode was Richard Dawson, but this revival wasn't popular enough so the show went out of syndication for a few years. The four people team size was discontinued after this version. The cast members included in this were for Y&R Lauralee Bell (Christine), Doug Davidson (Paul), Scott Reeves (Ryan) and Jess Walton (Jill) and for B&B Bobbie Eakes (Macy), John McCook (Eric), Schae Harrison (Darla) and Dylan Neal (Dylan). As part of introducing the guests in character clips were shown for example Bobbie as Macy sang "Never Gonna get it." At the time, Doug was doing the syndicated version of "The Price is Right", and while that was mentioned they didn't show any clips from that show.

This was the Thursday episode: Y&R won 20,000 so far, while B&B won 6,000. On Monday, B&B won, Tuesday and Wednesday saw Y&R win: their first win netted them 6,000 and their second win 14,000. Scott's charity was Family Resource Associates for children with learning disabilities in New Jersey. Schae's charity was Georgia Lions Home for the Blind. Schae had a film coming out "Magic Island", which was coming out that Christmas.

These episodes had the bankroll game. Since they are playing for charity the banks started at 5,000. (With regular families they started with only 2,500.) During the bankroll game one contestant from each team would face off and have to give the number one answer to get the money. This is a variation of the bullseye game, but instead of each family member answering a question, the same people compete to answer all three questions. Since Schae and Scott's charities were being promoted they played bankroll. Schae got the first and third questions right so the B&B bank was 11,000, while Scott got the second right, so Y&R was playing for 8,000.

Doug and John did the first face off about how to describe an attractive man, which was kind of awkward. B&B had control and did a clean sweep so Y&R didn't even have a chance to steal the question. Lauralee and Bobbie did the second face off for double about why you fake being ill. B&B got control again, but Y&R stole. Jess and Dylan did the third face off for double about what is hard to do once your mouth is numbed at the dentist. B&B stole and ended up winning the game.

Schae played first and Dylan was to follow her. She got over 200 by herself, so Dylan didn't have to answer any of the questions. Unfortunately Dylan came out and saw everyone celebrating so they couldn't pull a prank on him. One of the most entertaining things Family Feud would do on occasion is have the host ask bizarre impossible questions to the second competitor before telling them their partner won the game.

This episode was entertaining and I wish I would have seen the entire week of shows with the B&B and Y&R casts. Hopefully someday the Friday episode will be posted as I am curious who won the last day of the competition.
