This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.

Y&R Avery and Dylan
On "The Young and the Restless" Avery (Jessica Collins) got a blast from the past when her former love Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) was working at her boyfriend Nick's (Josh Morrow) club. Here are my thoughts on the story so far.
When we first met Phyllis's (Michelle Stafford) sister Avery, she was a hotshot lawyer with a past, she was a divorced woman who wanted to move on with her life in Genoa City. So far, her most significant romantic entanglement has been with Nick, her sister's ex-husband. Avery has encouraged Nick to break free from the Newman family in the workforce and open a nightclub.
Nick and Avery care about each other a lot, but it looks like Avery never got over Dylan. He was the one that got away, as Avery and Dylan were having an affair, she believed he died in combat. Sadly she found this out in the news, and until now he hadn't reached out to share that he was alive.
The scenes involving Avery and Dylan were fraught with angst as they both have guilt over the past. Nick has no idea what is going on with Avery as she's claiming that she is sick. At the end of the February 6, 2013 episode, Avery finally admitted who the dog tags belong to, that she had an affair with him and that person is alive.
Even though the actors never worked together before, I see a connection between the characters, which I appreciate. Hopefully this story will continue in such a fashion that neither Avery, Dylan or Nick is written as a villain, but just as victims of circumstance.
