Tonight on the Tuesday, September 25, 2012 episode of Jeopardy! there was a category based on soap opera nicknames/initials. This was quite a shock as it was totally unexpected.
The questions ended up in alphabetical order being All My Children, As the World Turns, Days of Our Lives, Guiding Light and The Young & The Restless. The initial abbreviations used were AMC, ATWT, DOOL, GL and Y&R. The contestants got everything right except for the GL question.
AMC's question referenced Susan Lucci/Erica Kane. ATWT had a pun about a globe, Days using the DOOL moniker was deemed the hardest with Salem being mentioned. The GL question spoke Agnes Nixon in the 1960s, which while accurate was a bit surprising. The Y&R question had a play on the title also.
Seeing a category on daytime soaps was cool as this rarely happens on Jeopardy! I don't know if I saw this as odd, ironic or sad, that three of the shows mentioned were all off the air having last air dates in the month of September. The other two are owned at least in part by Sony, so their inclusion makes perfect sense. Anyway, I hope someone posts this segment or at least the questions get posted so people can see what they missed.
