Due to the Impeachment related voting later in the evening on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, there were scheduling changes this week.
NBC didn't air Days of Our Lives, but did expect people to go online to watch it. ABC and CBS didn't show General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful respectively. Canada did air GH and Y&R so they got a rerun of GH on Thursday, while viewers in Canada of Y&R continued to be get further ahead.
That night, the networks that air soaps handled it the following way. NBC preempted completely (as they had reruns scheduled in that time.) CBS had the Survivor finale, so they showed it, with some of it delayed due to the news. ABC had Live in front of a Studio Audience, which they paused for news, but showed the entire broadcast eventually.
