Christmas in Soapland 2017: The Bold and the Beautiful

"The Bold and the Beautiful" did one holiday themed episode, which aired on Friday, December 22, 2017. Below are my thoughts on it.

The Forrester mansion was filled with family and friends celebrating Christmas and three speeches. Less of the regular contract actors appeared at this event, but it was filled with visiting guests. Bill didn't go to the Forrester mansion, and the only Spectra in attendance was Coco, who is dating RJ.

Ivy who missed Thanksgiving was here at Christmas. She was helping Pam and Charlie make the food along with Katie, the only Logan that Pam trusts in the kitchen. Brooke was missing her family, as her daughters Bridget and Hope weren't there, and neither was her sister Donna. (Two of Brooke's sons were there, what are they, unimportant? Though since she lives with them, it is not as big of a deal to see them.) Ridge had a surprise for Brooke, and Donna arrived. In the first speech of the episode, Ridge told everyone that he and Logan are getting married again.

Katie and Wyatt hid by themselves to kiss, and Brooke saw it. Since Brooke is aware of the relationship, it was no big deal, but someone other than her or Quinn or Eric may find out about it. Quinn was glad her son came to Christmas. Katie was wearing the earrings that Wyatt bought her for Christmas.

Other things that happened were Steffy and Liam talking about her pregnancy, though he has no idea he may not be the father. Thorne interacting with the Avants, Nicole being upset over Zende's plane being delayed and missing Christmas and baby Lizzie being asleep upstairs.

Brooke then gave a speech about the holidays, followed by Eric. This was fitting, to have these be from the longest serving cast members. There also was a montage of holiday fun, which I could have seen more of as special features. Singing began with Eric at the piano, the Avants starting with Julius and Vivienne with their girls Maya and Nicole, and son-in-law Rick joining in for "Silent Night". After the emotional moment was over, "Joy to the World" began performed by the whole cast.

Then the fourth wall was broken, and Lee Phillip Bell and her dog, along with cast and crew came out to wish everyone a good holiday season.

This was a very regular traditional Christmas show, which had very little story movement, so someone who only can catch the show on occasion could easily figure out what is going on during "The Bold and the Beautiful."
