May Sweeps or May Sleeps

Here are some highlights for our American daytime soaps for the recently ended sweeps month, which ran from April 24 - May 21. For some sweeps seemed sleepier than normal, so I'm going to see how many things may rank as exciting or at least interesting.

The Bold and the Beautiful

It was a tale of two engaged couples as Bill proposed to Brooke and Ridge proposed to Katie. Bill and Ridge hate one another, but seemingly have similar taste in women. Bill is back in charge of Spencer Publications, which so far only meant that Ridge could make fun of Bill's photo in the office. Hope decided to be celibate again, as she can't sleep cope with the idea of sleeping with Wyatt and Liam in a short amount of time. Guess she doesn't want to become a guest on Paternity Court. Wyatt was allowed to change his name to Spencer, though seriously why would he need Bill's permission. Liam adopted a cat for Hope, and later got stuck in a sauna by Quinn. Aly almost attacks Taylor with an axe, but figuratively gives up the "ax" she had against Taylor. (Honestly, while I think it is a good thing if Aly doesn't live in her pain, I wouldn't be cool if she starts calling Taylor, Mom if she does ever marry Thorne).

Days of Our Lives

Nick was murdered and nearly everyone is a suspect. The only people I am personally ruling out are Julie and Allie. Earlier in sweeps, Liam was also murdered by a branch, yes it looked like a branch that did him in not just the gun. Seeing that I wondered why Days was channeling Buffy the Vampire Slayer with a kill using wood. Also, Daniel found out what Nicole was hiding from Eric. Before she could tell Eric the truth, they made love, so she kept her mouth shut (at least figuratively as literally she had to have had it open while they kissed intimately.) Jordan and Kate had a cat fight and Rafe still doesn't know about her past.

General Hospital

The Nurses Ball (which I've summarized already), Carly and Franco joining the mile high club, Nina in the guise of Michelle Stafford is alive and just woke up from a coma (more coming in June). Patrick had a phone conversation that made him decide to give up on his marriage to Robin. Patrick and Sabrina had to deal with their sick premature baby. Carlos went to prison for killing AJ, even though Sonny was the culprit. Luke continued to be creepy and hit on Kiki, while Ava hung out on Sonny's island trying to stay safe.

The Young & the Restless

Sharon had electroshock therapy for no reason except to prolong the Summer paternity story. Really, she had it because she was seeing things, namely a person named Mariah who is Cassie's doppelganger. Victoria is pregnant again, after dealing with major infertility issues. Of course, she could only conceive once their was a possibility that Stitch and not her husband Billy would be the father. Summer got upset that Jack was interested in Kelly, as she wasn't Phyllis. Cane figured out that his father was involved with Bonaventure, while Jill held Collin in her basement.  Adam's low key funeral took place and Victor continued to alienate his clan. Chloe wanted a baby with Billy again, and generally continued to lose her mind.

Those were the May highlights for 2014. Looking at it this way it looks like a lot more happened than originally thought, which seems to be a good thing.
