Y&R: Carmine's Murder

The Young and the Restless finally resolved the murder of Carmine Vasco (Marco Dapper). The character wasn't actually dead, but in witness protection.

Carmine was originally introduced in a comical storyline where he accidentally kidnapped Abby (then played by Emme Rylan). He stayed on canvas even as Abby left town and was later recast. Later Carmine became involved with Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman) as her marriage to Michael (Christian LeBlanc) started falling apart over their fights about their son Fenmore (Max Ehrich). He served Lauren drinks, and then Lauren fell into his bed. They had a sexy affair, but Carmine couldn't accept that Lauren didn't want anything more than the occasional lay. When she decided to try and fix her marriage to Michael, Carmine freaked and vowed revenge. He also used Fen to try and become closer to Lauren, but this didn't work. Fen became a drug addict due to the stress in his family. Carmine kidnapped Lauren, and Michael rescued her. Carmine was then presumed dead, but he wasn't. Then he went to prison, though later he showed up at Lauren's party. He showed a sex tape of him having sex with Lauren. Fen went outside and shot him. What no one knew was that Carmine turned state's evidence and was going into witness protection. Fen was innocent of murder, though he did shoot at Carmine. Thankfully Michael got the charges dropped against his son even though, both Michael and Fen did time in prison due to this crazy situation.

Due to how this story was told, I wonder how much was rewritten due to regime change issues. I had no problems with the acting, but it felt like it was being dropped and picked up in such a way that it didn't seem significant.
