"Days of Our Lives" election story has ended and a mayor has been decided. Below are my thoughts on this plot.
It was a bit obvious to me once Sheila quit that there was no way that Abe would win the election. The show had no need for Abe to have an assistant if he wasn't in the top job. Also by having Jack succeed, there was more story to be had, as he and Eve continue to cause conflict for the other characters. Abe lost more than just his job, as Valerie came to visit, found out about Sheila kissing Abe, and realizing that a long distance relationship wasn't working.
Haley admitted to lying about her "love" for Tripp, and their wedding was a sham. If Haley didn't tell the truth, Eve was going to make sure that Tripp would also get in trouble with the law. Haley found out that her "sister" Melinda was actually her mother. JJ then took Haley's hand and they ran.
I think having an election plot where seemingly everyone is against one of the candidates (in this case) Jack, hurt the story. Due to what is going on in the world, a green card marriage situation isn't something that is played for comedy like it may have been decades ago.
