GH: Nurses Ball 2019

The Nurses Ball on "General Hospital" was four episodes in 2019: May 17, 20, 21, 22. Below is a summary and my thoughts (only sequenced by day, but not in exact order).

Since the Nurses Ball has been back, the first day is red carpet coverage. There was no sponsor this year, but Chandra Wilson visited as Sydney, who works at Crimson's New York office, and joined Nina talking to people, while Maxie took care of the social media. While this was going on, Laura and Curtis were dealing with Ryan, who was alive, but tied them up and left them to die. Highlights of the red carpet included the nurses (Dionne, Felix, Epiphany and Amy) going in a limo rented by Franco, for him and Liz. Chase and Willow are happy together, annoying Nina. Ava and Kevin arrived together, and Lucy and Scott decided to end that relationship.  Sonny and Carly went to the ball without Joss, and Jax and Nina met. Sam and Shiloh went together, Lulu went with Peter, and Michael escorted Sasha when he saw her alone. Finn and Anna were on a date, and Robert crashed it, and Felicia and Mac were happy to be there. Scott and Lucy's plan was in motion, but the episode ended before we saw the result. This episode was the first with the updated opening (new music, slower graphics, and it ends on an image of the hospital instead of the Port Charles' skyline.)

Day two began with the performances. Jason and Spinelli weren't at the ball, and were bugging Shiloh's Dawn of Day house, and Scott and Lucy's plan fails and Ava and Kevin go to the ball. The Nurses sang "Best of My Love". This was the only large group number of the ball (as in the only one that has more than two named characters in the performance.) Finn still wants to propose to Anna, but his ring is missing. He realizes that Yvonne has his ring, as Mike found it. Sonny convinced Mike to give the ring back, and Finn was glad to have the right one. There was chat about Neil and Alexis, Dawn of Day, Willow telling Sasha and Michael, she was fired etc. Cam found Lucy's llama backstage. Peter is going to use Molly's expose on DOD. Chase performed "Something Just like This" by The Chainsmokers and Coldplay with a lot of extras, and then he brings up Willow. Kristina and Joss are home relaxing, after Krissy sees Sam and Shiloh at the ball, she decides to go and confront him. Finn and Robert are backstage watching Anna speak about HIV AIDS and her daughter's history, and the engagement ring ends up by Anna's feet, as the episode ends.

Day three had Cam bringing Joss a disk of a video that Oscar did for her to make sure she went to the ball. Anna is speaking and Finn comes out and proposed, she said yes, and they left before the ball ended. Obrecht performed "Guilty" (Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb) and Franco joined her. Laura and Curtis woke up from the explosion and they are well enough to go back to Port Charles. Cameron sang "North Star" and pictures of his family, friends and the late Oscar are shown. Kevin gets attacked backstage by Ryan. Willow and Nina argue again, and Ava sings "Too Good to Be True Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You".

Day four had Willow admitted to Shiloh about her pregnancy, but says she had a miscarriage, and Michael hit Shiloh. Lucas realizes that Willow is Wiley's mother. Ned and Olivia sing "Get Closer" by Seals and Croft. Valentin performs "Nothing Without You" by Vienna Teng. Scott realized that Kevin is Ryan after Scott grabbed his prosthetic hand. Joss sang "A List of Things to Do" - the song she and Oscar wrote though I wish they would have had Ned involved as he helped Oscar write the music. Lucy said goodbye, and when the party was being cleaned up, Kevin was shown hanging from the top of the stage as the episode ended.

When it comes to thoughts, I'm not sure I like the new music, I do like the hospital shot at the end of the credits. On the first day, I thought having a social media aspect made sense, though it would have been nice to see the "fake" images online the same day. I'm glad the mess with Finn/Robert and the ring ended as it was very silly. I think after two years of performing at the Nurses Ball, Chase while a detective can never go undercover, as there is no way he won't be discovered. I wish they had done more with the llama, I don't get the point of having an animal there, except it was better for Cam to confide that than talk to himself. I didn't really have a favorite song/performance this year.
