GH: So Long Lulu

The Friday, March 22, 2013 of General Hospital seems to be the last episode in which Julie Marie Berman appeared as Lulu Spencer Falconeri. The Daytime Emmy Award winning actress had decided to try new things in her career. This entry has speculation along with casting information.

Julie's last scenes on air material wasn't with her family, but with Lulu's best friend Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Maxie was having a nightmare over the huge lie, she is keeping from Lulu and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). They have no idea that Maxie is pregnant with her own child with Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) instead of Lulu and Dante's fetus. While it is too bad that Julie won't be there to play when Lulu really finds out at least we got to see an imagined version of that situation.

On Valentine's Day, Lulu received an odd present: a statue which was a replica of the ice princess. Her parents Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis) recognized it right away. The Spencers have a lot of enemies, but things seemed eerily calm as nothing happened again until this week.

Dante came home to find Lulu on the floor. Earlier that day, when Lulu's parents and Dante's mother Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) were celebrating the first photo of the new baby, another odd present arrived. It was a teddy bear with a clock. Luke feared it was a bomb, but after Lulu got off the phone with her Aunt Bobbie (Jackie Zeman), they thought it was safe. Bobbie had bought this stuffed animal as it was said to be good for a baby. Unfortunately Luke was right, though he should have never left Lulu alone once the party ended. Lulu had convinced Luke to go see her mother before she married Scott (Kin Shriner) again.

Olivia and Dante went together to the hospital as she got woozy. While at the hospital, Olivia had another vision, and Dante rushed home. Meanwhile, Laura was at the courthouse with Scott, though she wouldn't get married without Lulu as her matron of honor. Laura was upset when Lulu didn't show up and became worried. Scott and Laura didn't remarry, though they honestly spoke about how Laura still had feelings for her former husband Luke.

Lulu disappeared from her loft with Dante, after she was passed out on the ground. Dante went to help her and was hit over the head. When he woke up, she was gone. Lulu somehow became drugged by a teddy bear with a clock. Luke (Tony Geary) was suspicious when they received the gift, but no one believed him. The present had been from Bobbie (Jackie Zeman), though it had been replaced by something else, so someone had to be watching her as well.  At the end of Friday's episode, Bobbie was back in Port Charles along with Lulu's brother Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) though Nik had no idea about Lulu's abduction.

I wish Julie well in her new life outside of GH. Julie's last day as Lulu was February 26. Here is her tweet about it.

With the role of Lulu being recast by Emme Rylan (formerly Marcy Rylan, who also appeared as the last actress as Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light and as Abby Newman on The Young & The Restless) taking over the role. Her first tape date was Monday, March 18 per her twitter account.

Since GH doesn't tape as far in advance as some other shows, hopefully Lulu will be back on screen within the next few weeks. I'm keeping an open mind about the casting change. That said it will be an adjustments to see someone else play the role of Lulu.
