My first reaction should be redacted. Seriously, ABC really you want to cancel General Hospital and replace it with a reality show. What logic is that? If this is a potential syndicated show to replace Katie or something they want to try to sell or air on a cable station, sure why not. That said, if this taping at the UCLA medical center is their idea of a replacement for GH oh heavens no.
While I appreciate hearing news like this as soon as possible, I hate the idea of not knowing. If ABC plans on dumping GH after its 50th anniversary, be straight forward about it. Don't act like you're committed for the long term if the airing of the show is just a stopgap until you find something you can produce on the cheap. If that's the case, tell us now before any of us gets excited and then ultimately crushed. In prime time, every so often we're told that a show is ending after a long run as part of its promotion. If this is the case with GH, I'd prefer that treatment than the alternative of acting like everything is awesome while the opposite is true. Anyway, enough ranting for now, at least if GH's end is imminent I hope TPTB have enough time to wrap up the stories.
