Thoughts about "The Doctors" - April 1975

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of April 1975.

Mike decided Dawn was it for him, and he planned to give Toni the news that he was alive, and wanted a divorce through the mail. Captain Zeb arrived in Singapore, he shared how Mike was a father to Toni's child, and now Mike wants custody.

An investigation into the man that Greta ran into at the hospital was done. It was discovered by Maggie and Alan that a man named Mike Powers did check into that hotel and gave his last known address as Martha's home. (Greta still has no idea this has happened but Maggie thought if Greta knew they tried and had no luck finding Mike, she may calm down.)  Everyone was in shock, and Toni was concerned about her life.

Iris left the hospital with Rex's help, but was not well. Matt knew what was wrong, but she needed surgery. Althea figured out that Rex had been a doctor, by his reference to Misericordia (using a nickname to reference that hospital name). Althea confronted Rex, while Iris was in the other room. Iris called 911, and was returned to the hospital. Rex brought Althea into a cabin in the woods. He then told her everything, and they discussed how he was thrown out of medicine. Rex set the cabin on fire, and she screamed loudly. Tom arrived and was able to save her. Later at Tom's apartment, Althea was upset that Tom didn't discuss how they were together, and Tom said nothing happened. He wouldn't have taken advantage of her after her ordeal with Rex, and her reliving being in a fire as a child.

Andy Anderson went to New York to make a record. The record was played by Stacy at her dorm room at Baldwin. Carolee realized what was wrong with Stacy and invited her to stay with the Aldriches, and go to "Hope University". Carolee and Steve still are dealing with the stress from Karen wanting to get closer to Erich. On the same night that Althea was being held hostage by Rex, Carolee and Stacy went to Pete's PM to listen to Andy sing. Steve missed most of the night due to having to deliver a baby to a first time mother. They were polish, the entire family was there, and he got a meal out of it. Steve and Carolee ended up leaving early, as Stephanie was running a fever, so Andy offered to take Stacy home. The next morning Anne called the Aldrich house to give  Steve the news that she was returning to Madison to resume her medical practice, but Nick was staying in the desert.

Hank and Lauri were both assigned to the Iris case, so they were allowed to interact on a professional level. Due to his studying for the boards, and their work schedules, they haven't had much time for romance.

Annie and Nick's relationship ended. She found out while she is doing better, she isn't 100% well. Anne doesn't want to burden to Nick, stated that it was about Althea. Nick got upset, and she left her engagement ring with him. He said that she probably never would have married him due to what happened to her late husband Chris, and how she doesn't fight for her relationships. If she had really loved Steve as a teenager, the minute she was of age, she would have been with him again for example.

Those were the highlights of April 1975, and one episode was missing April 17, and April 18 was pre-empted. Gerald Gordon had stopped playing Nick at the end of 74, but they finally burned off the last of his taped episodes.
