AMC, Days, GH: Christmas in Soapland 2010

Here is the last installment featuring what happened at Christmas for All My Children, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. These are really rough due to holiday busyness. None of these shows really got to me emotionally unfortunately, though I do appreciate that AMC and Days did not ignore the holiday even if it was sad.

All My Children celebrated Christmas late this year, and I found that disappointing. Being behind one episode like Days was due to a presidential pre-emption was understandable, but having both of the holiday shows the week after threw me for a loop. Kendall found presents that Zach bought for her and Spike and Ian before he died. That made her willing to celebrate the holiday. JR and Annie have a few moments together, but he leaves to be with AJ. Annie gave JR handcuffs of the fuzzy variety, while JR gave her jewelry. Marissa gave JR the best present of all, allowing him joint custody of AJ. Then Marissa left to see Scott at the prison. Krystal has a holiday event at her restaurant. Amanda invited Cara and Griffin to attend, which surprised everyone. Jesse had to work, so the Hubbards went to the police station to see him. Natalia and Brot's relationship was finally outed. Kendall was visited by Father Clarence and her relationship with Greenlee was rebuilt. For the Jack and Erica fans, it seemed like Father Clarence was telling her to go towards Caleb. That was not a nice holiday gift. Madison is hurt, but she and her baby are fine. Greenlee agrees to help Madison leave Pine Valley obviously to keep her from Ryan. Emma wishes for a sister not knowing that she has a half-sibling on the way.

Christmas on Days of Our Lives was depressing. Watching Johnny in the hospital after having cancer surgery was hard to sit through as that is a nightmare for any family. On top of that, it was the first Christmas since Mickey and Alice have passed away, and Ciara is upset her parents Bo and Hope aren't there for her. Bo did vow to bring Hope and Ciara together for the holiday, but that didn't happen. She doesn't understand the situation, which is a good thing though it destroyed her belief in Santa Claus being able to grant wishes. The only person who seemed to cheer Ciara up was Theo. And yes, I still wish that in the future that Theo and Ciara become a couple when they are grown. Stefano even had a sad holiday as his newly discovered son Chad wouldn't be civil on the phone for Christmas. Nicole and Brady smooched while he was wearing a Santa suit, so at least someone had a bit of fun. Rafe also dressed up as Santa and visited Johnny at the hospital. Sami and Rafe give each other the same present on the pier, their key to the safe house they stayed in when they first got involved. It was implied, they were going to break in and become intimate. Rafe, Sami, Stephanie and Nathan along with Will, Gabi and Ali go to church on Christmas. Stephanie and Nathan left the Horton home early to go, but not before Nathan shared his news about leaving for Baltimore. Theo reads the Christmas story to his Dimera relatives. When we see Melanie and Philip together they are in bed, avoiding Vivian. Vivian wasn't completely ignored by those who live in the Titan mansion, like Kate, but she didn't have a great holiday.

General Hospital skipped Christmas. We saw Luke and Tracy get married, Sonny proposing to Brenda, and then there was the bus crash. When the most holiday cheer is Michael and Jason going to wish Edward a Merry Christmas, it feels like the holiday was ignored. While I appreciated that Jason and Michael were interacting with Edward, I missed Christmas. Due to the story, we also aren't going to have New Year's Eve. At least the fans of Scrubs (aka Robin and Patrick) can be happy that they are going to be together for the holidays. Sam also got help decorating her "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree from Molly and Spinelli. We saw some holiday trees, and such, but it wasn't a huge holiday season in Port Charles.

So that was what happened on AMC, Days and GH over the Christmas holiday. I wonder if next year if they will celebrate more than in 2010. Happy 2011 to all.
