2010 Half-year Review of Soaps

Here is my brief review of the soaps so far in 2010. This isn’t comprehensive, and just includes some highlights typed up stream of consciousness style in a less than 70 word format.

All My Children: The taping of the show moved to California. Greenlee isn’t dead and married to David Hayward. Tad is Damon’s Dad, Damon isn’t Stuart’s dad. David Canary retired, so Adam and Brooke got a happy ending. Palmer died and his family mourned. Erica got into a plane crash, Bianca came home. Angie may be going blind, and Natalia is a police detective.

As the World Turns: Canceled with no hope of being picked up by another outlet. Taping stopped in June, and Helen Wagner passed away. Julianne Moore made a guest visit. Meg went insane. Vienna’s pregnant. Holden and Lily are not back together. Without Noah around, Luke got involved with Reid. The show won three Daytime Emmys for acting. Members of their writing staff have gotten other jobs.

The Bold & The Beautiful: Oliver and Brooke had sex at a masked ball, some people love that plot and others have freaked. Ellen’s DJ made a visit. They got best show and best writing at the Daytime Emmys, using material focusing on the death of Betty White’s character Ann. The mom from the Wonder Years and Bobby Ewing got involved aka Pam and Stephen.

Days of our Lives: Alice died, many cried. Chloe’s pregnant, is her fiancé Daniel the dad or is it Philip her former boyfriend who is married to her soon to be stepdaughter. Hope has developed a “night” personality and has mugged many men in Salem. Vivian and Victor got married; Mickey passed and started hanging out with Victor. Mia left town. I vote for Ciara and Theo to be the future supercouple.

General Hospital: Michael went to prison, and we don’t know if he was raped before Jason joined him in custody. Carly hates Dante and Lulu and wants to make them miserable. Brook came back to Port Charles, Franco’s making moves towards everyone. Kristina was abused by Kiefer, Alexis ran him down. Ethan was blamed for both, and he was innocent. Luke and Tracy aren’t married.

One Life to Live: Starr and Langston graduated from high school. Schuyler went to prison, but he is Roxy’s son. Natalie and Brody had sex, when on the outs with John and Jessica. Kelly came home. Stacy died, but left Sierra Rose, who lives with her father Fish and his boyfriend Kyle. Kim left Clint due David’s blackmail. Bo and Nora got married. Matthew got his heart broken. Tea has a brain tumor.

Young & the Restless: Nick is on trial. Adam isn’t dead. Abby grew up quickly becoming a budding exhibitionist, who wants her own reality show. Ashley and Tucker had sex. Lily and Cane’s twins were born two months early. Liz Foster died. Snapper and Greg came for a visit. Jill and Lauren are half-sisters. Heather was nearly blown to bits by a bomb if not for Chance.
