Monday, June 7, 2010 was the big day when Bo and Nora got married again on One Life to Live. Their first marriage in the mid-90s fell apart due to her infidelity, but they finally worked their way back together.
Bo and Nora’s wedding day was rife with strife, though it lacked locusts. There was torrential rain, a power outage and planes were rerouted outside of Llanview. Was the universe telling Bo and Nora something, was it payback for all the time they wasted or just random crazy luck?
When Bo arrived at the church, it stank of skunk. Bo then got himself sprayed by the animal destroying his tuxedo. He took a tub full of tomato juice to clean up the smell. Many flowers and air fresheners eliminated the smell in the church. The men passed around cigars, but didn’t smoke as that was illegal. Due to the craziness of the day perhaps that was a good plan as perhaps the church would have gone up in flames.
Nora injured her ankle, her eye, her teeth, her hair and her dress. She was walking around with a crutch, an eye patch, a broken tooth, green hair and without a gown. By the time the wedding was held, Nora’s ankle was no longer bothering her, her eye was no longer in distress, her tooth was fixed, and her hair was dyed back to red. Life was good, even if her daughter Rachel couldn’t make the ceremony as she was sick in Chicago.
Nora’s gown had been set aflame and since Bo’s tuxedo smelled they were without clothing. While looking through Nora’s boxes of clothing Viki and Gigi found their wedding outfits from their first ceremony. Thankfully the tuxedo and dress still fit. Unfortunately, Andrew wasn’t available to marry Bo and Nora as his flight was re-routed. David Vickers, who is now known as Bo’s son, has the power to marry people in the US, UK and American Samoa to do the ceremony.
The ceremony began with Blair singing. She was the replacement, as the original performer had gotten ill due to the air fresheners used in the chapel. Blair performed Simply Love, which has been used on One Life to Live in the past for Todd and Blair. I doubt the show wanted us to remember that. Of course, to others like me that will always be the Johnny and Chelsea song from Guiding Light. Twenty years ago, Kassie DePaiva who was then Kassie Wesley, was on that program and her character of Chelsea performed that song along with James Goodwin who played Johnny. This was used instead of a traditional bridal march. The bridesmaids, Gigi, Jessica and Natalie, along with Matron-of-Honor Viki walked in to that tune as did Nora. David came out in a Technicolor dream coat as his robe as the church was going to perform that musical. They said no orange robe, and that does qualify. David said it was Destiny that Bo and Nora got back together, but not her, meaning Destiny. She called him a jackass.
Bo and Nora felt safe when no one initially had a reaction to if anyone has any objections please hold their peace. Of course, that was shot to blazes when Clint came in with a gun aimed at the front of the church. Bo and Nora were concerned he wanted to harm them, as Nora and Clint’s marriage ended due to Bo and Nora reconnecting. Clint wanted to hurt David, as David was the one who convinced Kim to leave Llanview. Kim his much younger wife left the marriage as David was blackmailing her. Thankfully Viki talked him down before he shot his nephew in front of much of the town including numerous police officers. Blair was thrilled that she wasn’t the one who acted crazy at the wedding. Darren was perplexed and Destiny said he hadn’t seen anything yet. Shaun was willing to shoot Clint, but didn’t act on it. Jessica and Natalie made their love interests move out of the way so they could comfort their daddy who sat between them. At the reception Clint made a gun motion at David, but didn’t shoot him.
With no more delay, Bo and Nora spoke their vows to one another. Jessica and Natalie, Bo’s nieces who are fraternal read the passage from Corinthians that seems to be used at myriad weddings. They were pronounced husband and wife and broke a glass for luck which was a reminder of Nora being Jewish. I do find it disappointing that no Rabbi was present, but if one had been there, there would have been no need for David to marry them.
After the ceremony, Kelly of all people explained why Clint behaved so badly towards David. While it was nice for someone to be on Clint’s side in this situation, why haven’t the characters had a scene yet? Kelly is the mother of Clint’s great-grandson in secondary school for goodness sakes. Actually that isn’t the reason why I want them to interact, obviously, but it was funny to see such a role reversal. In a parallel universe, aka GL’s Springfield USA, there was a guy who looked suspiciously like Clint Buchanan who spent some of his time explaining his daughter’s outrageous behaviors who looks like Kelly Cramer’s twin. The wedding was the first time; they’ve been in a scene together, but still no chatter. Even ABC: Soaps in Depth has asked if they will interact, come on One Life to Live, give us a crumb here.
At the reception, Nora and Bo danced, and Bob Woods long ago job as an Arthur Murray instructor was put to good use. The duo danced to Sam & Dave, and later to Peaches & Herb. It would be adorable if Bob or Hillary B. Smith would end up on Dancing with the Stars. One Life to Live gets no love on that show as three AMC people and one GH actress have been contestants.
The best man speech was made by Rex as Matthew was nowhere to be found. Matthew’s heart was broken for the first time as Dani told him that she didn’t love him. Matthew now knows what Destiny felt after he decided he liked Dani more than her. He lied to his parents about the break up and shared his speech with them. It was sweet, but poor Matthew.
Now that Bo and Nora are remarried, let’s hope the problems of the past stay in the past. They have each other, their son Matthew, and their careers. Perhaps someday Nora will leave her job as District Attorney behind and be able to butt heads with Bo as Police Commissioner.
