This entry is through April 1st episode of All My Children. This past week, Angie Hubbard gave birth to a baby. Sadly the child was stillborn. I’m still processing all of this, but I wanted to write about my thoughts at this point.
Before Angie gave birth, we were given scenes with Angie and Jesse and their family. We saw flashbacks of their wedding with the characters making commentary on the events. I appreciated that very much, and I found very entertaining. Of course, this was just the calm before the storm. The last moments of happiness before things went into the world of nightmares. They also had a party with their family and friends who promised to be there for them. We also saw Angela deal with her doubts over having the child as she lost her vision to go through the pregnancy.
Seeing Jesse deliver the child just to have it die was heartbreaking. Seriously, his wife goes blind, and then the baby dies. If you were looking for angst, this is full of it.
Instead of a story in which Angie and Jesse mourn their child, we get a baby switch. That’s where I am apprehensive. It was convenient that Brot was alone in his police car as he found an abandoned baby. Angie heard the baby crying and mistook that for her baby and a swap was made. So only Jesse and Brot know the truth of the situation. Angie and Jesse’s daughter Ellie was buried in the woods, I think it was in the woods as the scenes were so dark I couldn’t see a thing.
Angie and the abandoned baby girl who they are calling Lucy made it to the hospital. The doctors are stunned they have a live baby due to the damage that happened during the delivery. Jake told Cara that his father Joe said that sometimes miracles happen and not to question them. Of course, will Angie ever question what happened? Even without her sight, will she figure out what is going on behind her back? Angie as a doctor could figure it out. Also I wonder how on earth they won’t figure out the baby isn’t related. Will the parents of the abandoned child come into the picture; will someone find the remains of baby Ellie? None of this is for certain at this point.
At least both Jesse and Brot realize what they did was wrong. Their actions have consequences. I figure they will wish they had told the truth from the beginning. It is doubtful Angie will take too kindly to them playing with her heart and the life of an innocent infant.
While I appreciate and look forward to the scenes where all of this comes out specifically because I enjoy Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams. I will be sad if this dooms Angie and Jesse as a couple. They are one of the most entertaining and real couples in daytime.
