AMC: Scott and Annie Get Married

On Wednesday, August 25, 2010, Annie and Scott got married in the park. This is the latest development in the quadrangle of Annie, JR, Scott and Marissa on All My Children. JR and Scott are cousins, Marissa is the fraternal twin sister of JR’s late wife Babe, and Annie was married to JR’s father Adam.

While married to Marissa, JR decided that Annie was no good for his father Adam. He decided to get Annie out of his life, by seducing her. JR didn’t think he would sleep with Annie, but just use her to get her away from Adam. This didn’t work as JR and Annie started lusting for each other mutually. Scott protected them and allowed everyone to think that he was the one having the affair with Annie. Previously Annie and Scott had kissed, but they weren’t sleeping together. Once Adam was out of the picture, Annie and JR tried to move on with their lives.

Annie continued to see Scott, while Marissa tried to hold onto JR. As the adoptive mother of JR’s son, AJ, Marissa had another reason to fight for the relationship. She didn’t want to abandon the little boy, but whenever her back was turned JR was with Annie. Marissa talked to her father David Hayward who gave her ideas on how to keep JR. He felt she needed to fight dirty. It wasn’t that David wanted his daughter with JR, but finally she allowed him to give her advice.

JR and Annie had gone away to the home he inherited from his Great Uncle Palmer. Nothing happened as Annie went to help Scott. Scott had stolen Palmer’s prototype, and Annie wanted to make sure he was protected. Marissa and Scott thought that Annie and JR were having sex. In sadness, they slept together. They both kept quiet at first. Eventually though Marissa told JR the truth. He decided to confront Scott and Annie with the news. Unfortunately for Scott and Annie it was on their wedding day. Annie spoke with JR, but ultimately chose Scott. The two spoke vows to one another. The judge saw their declarations and pronounced them man and wife. Annie chose Scott over JR, because she loves him. She feels he will provide her with a future and a family for her daughter Emma. Annie was there for Scott, when he was mourning the shooting death of his father. She was willing to forever him for what happened with Marissa. He could forgive her interactions with JR.

With the writing staff being switched up, I am not sure what couple we should side for in this scenario. JR has lost his wife, and his mistress. Will he go back to the “dark side” and start drinking again? He fought cancer and won with Marissa’s moral support and Annie’s bone marrow. Will he continue to pursue Marissa or was her betrayal with his cousin Scott just too much? Will he not leave Annie alone even though she is now married? Will he hurt Scott to get back at him for marrying Annie? Annie may say that she forgave Scott for what happened with Marissa, but I wonder will she plot revenge or let bygones be bygones. Is Marissa going to be finally able to move on with her life beyond JR? Of course, there is also the possibility that they will make Marissa pregnant, which could continue this quadrangle even longer.
