OLTL: Fish, Kyle and Nick

Oliver Fish, Kyle Lewis and Nick Chavez are one of the newest triangles in Llanview, Pennsylvania. The most unique thing about this story is that it is involving three men. As a viewer, I appreciate that so far, these guys are being treated just like any other triangle. We're getting to know why Kyle is torn between Fish and Nick. The biggest difference is we are seeing how Fish deals with accepting himself.

Oliver and Kyle dated in college, while Nick and Kyle are embarking on a new relationship. Kyle still has feelings for Fish, which Nick realizes, but he is caught in the middle.

Kyle and Fish met and fell in love while members of the same college fraternity. Unfortunately for Kyle Lewis, Oliver Fish couldn't deal with his feelings or his sexuality. Once Fish's mother caught them in an intimate clinch, their relationship was over and Fish went running back into the closet. Flash forward a few years, and the two men reconnected. Fish had become a police officer, while Kyle was a lab technician, who wanted to become a doctor. Kyle was "bad" due to how he used his position as a lab tech to his advantage to get money. Living in the Angel Square Hotel, provided Kyle the opportunity to become closer to Roxy Balsom, who was supportive of Kyle's sexuality.

Fish dated women including his roommate Layla and slept with Stacy Morasco twice, the second time may have gotten her pregnant, but he has no idea that is the case. Layla wondered if Fish was gay, but he swore he was not. She believed him and they slept together. Cris, Layla and Fish's roommate found Kyle and Fish kissing. When Fish told Kyle that it was over, Kyle met Nick. The two men exchanged numbers, and a jealous Oliver told Nick about the criminal charges that were brought against Kyle. Later, Layla and Nick had a chance encounter where Nick "outed" Fish and Kyle. Cris who seems to be developing feelings for Layla couldn't keep quiet once Layla told her what Nick had shared.

Layla and Fish had it out, and finally Fish admitted that he was gay. He felt liberated and became more comfortable about his sexuality except with his prejudiced parents. Due to Fish receiving a special commendation from the Llanview police department, his parents came to town early. They were shocked when they found out Layla was African-American, but that wasn’t the biggest surprise. They discovered a book that Cris had bought to help Fish tell his parents about his sexuality. At first, Mr. Fish thought the book belonged to Cristian, and he started to harass Cris, but finally Oliver stopped his father's taunting with the truth, that he was the gay one.

Mr. Fish was very upset, by this turn of events, and became even more livid when he found out that his wife knew about Oliver's relationship with Kyle. Fish's Mom had hoped Oliver was just going through a phase, but that was not the case. Fish's parents went to the Angel Square Hotel for the night, while he tried to cope with his parents' disapproval. On the way out of town, Mrs. Fish goes to say goodbye to her son. Telling him that she wishes he could change, but Oliver says he tried that and it didn’t work. Oliver’s Dad stayed behind and ran into John and Marty. Both of them were on Oliver’s side as John is Oliver’s boss and Marty knew the regrets one would feel for ignoring one’s child.

Once Mrs. Fish returned to the hotel, they ran into Kyle and Nick who were kissing in the lobby after spending some alone time together. Earlier Nick stopped by while Kyle was looking at the newspaper, which mentioned Fish's award. Thinking of Fish, Kyle stopped Nick before they became intimate saying he had to go to work. So it looked like that evening, Nick and Kyle spent the night together. Kyle defended Oliver and told them how Fish sees his father as his hero. Fish's parents did go and say goodbye to him, which gave Oliver hope for the future.

So what is next for Oliver, Kyle and Nick? Will Oliver continue on a road to self acceptance even though he risks the love of his parent, will Kyle figure out which man he wants to be with, or will Nick realize that he maybe second best in Kyle’s life and give him up? Hopefully these questions and others will be answered in this story.
