Halloween in Soapland 2019

Due to how certain soaps extended Halloween night beyond October, this post was postponed. Below are summaries and some thoughts.

Days of Our Lives did a stand-alone episode on the 31st, as did The Young and the Restless. Both of these episodes focused on dreams.

The Days episode was about a dream that Ben was having though we only found out at the end of it. The story was that serial killers worked separately and together to take over the town. Jordan, Claire, Ben, Andre and Marlena all killed people. Jordan in a nurse's costume took Claire out of custody. They ran into JJ and Haley, Claire first killed Haley due to Tripp and than JJ due to being loud. They separated after these murders. Jordan went after Rafe and killed him with a poison kiss. Claire went after Victor and Maggie (for choosing Ciara over her), getting Maggie first with a syringe and then using the rest on her poppop. Marlena with Andre's help killed John, prior to that Andre admitted he killed Anna off screen, though Anna thought he was Tony. Marlena then left and killed Will with a necktie framing Ben, and shot Andre as Ciara ran away. Jordan eventually killed her. Jordan, Claire, and Marlena were making a mass grave for their victims, when Ben arrived seeing that Ciara was dead. The finger was pointed at Jordan, so Ben killed his sister, and the episode ended with it being a dream.

The Y&R episode had dreams of multiple people. Phyllis dreamed she was in charge of Newman, and everything was great until it wasn't and she was penniless. Rey was with Sharon in his dream, but Sharon was using him as a cover for Adam, and he was heartbroken. Kyle saw Theo take over the Abbott house and make it a tequila party at Thanksgiving. Theo got Jack deemed incompetent and didn't care about his new family. Nick went to a funeral, thinking it was his father's but it was actually Adam's, Chelsea decided to call Connor Victor III, and Nick was arrested for killing his brother. Abby's dream was about her being mocked and made fun of like a sitcom character of the 60s. She was glad to wake up and realize she was part owner of the Grand Phoenix.

The Bold and the Beautiful had a Halloween party for Douglas at the Forrester mansion. He dressed up as a dalmatian. Hope was a cowgirl, Thomas was in a construction outfit, while Eric was in Grecian garb. None of the characters had a theme though unsurprisingly Ridge was a hockey player. The night continued for a long time, as Thomas tried to convince Hope to sleep with him to get custody of his son. Meanwhile Liam and Steffy spent the night with Kelly and Beth. They used a special credit sequence with a ghost (like Thomas used to scare Douglas) earlier in the year.

General Hospital had two major parties: the Haunted Star hosted the high school students, while the Metro Court had the adults. Cameron brought a flask to the Haunted Star, and he and Joss got drunk (they were in 80s like garb with Trina as an angel and Dev as a football player). Lulu went as a chaperone with Dustin, they dressed as Mary Poppins and Bert. Nic returned to town, and Ava (as Cruella) thought she was hallucinating, seeing a dead man. Many of the adults were in Disney themed costumes: Laura was the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland), Jax (as Mr. Incredible), Chase (as Buzz Lightyear), Willow (as Jessie), TJ (as Captain America), and Sasha (as Captain Marvel). Costumes that weren't Disney themed included Curtis as Sherlock, Jordan (as a generic sorceress), Michael (as a guy with a sword), Molly (as Ruth Bader Ginsburg), Valentin (as Antony) and Nina (as Cleopatra). No one got killed, at the party, but Nina and Sasha argued again.
