Asa's plans were thwarted and the double weddings of Viki and Charlie and Nora and Clint were held. The banner he had sent from the great beyond with Viki paired with Clint and Nora with Bo did not change anyone's minds. Surprisingly a drunken Dorian agreed with Asa as she told the couples that they were making a huge mistake. While I can see Charlie and Viki being happy together for a long time, Nora and Clint may not make their first anniversary. So how are the couples different and why should Clint and Nora ultimately fail?
Charlie and Viki are in love with one another, and while Viki has loved others in the past they are not a threat to their relationship. The duo has overcome things to get to a place where they finally decided to get married. They weren't rushing into a wedding. When they met Viki was a carefree waitress while Charlie was fighting his sobriety and wishing to be reunited with his son. Viki wasn't a newspaper publisher with DID, with many former loves, a heart transplant recipient and numerous children. She was just Viki D, who worked at the Bon Jour Cafe in Paris, Texas. Before becoming engaged, they dealt with their children's issues, lies and betrayals and came out stronger for it. Charlie's lie to protect his son Jared, who is now married to Viki/Clint's daughter Natalie, helped cause a chain reaction. If Jared hadn't posed as a Buchanan, Dorian would not have been able to steal Buchanan Enterprises, Nash may not have died, Jessica wouldn't have become controlled by her alters Tess and Bess, Jessica's fetus Chloe would have lived, Natalie and Jared along with Charlie and Viki wouldn’t have nearly died in an explosion set by Tess at Llanview, Starr and Cole's daughter would never thought their daughter died after being kidnapped by Bess, and Cole wouldn't have become a drug addict. Jared faking his paternity with Nigel's help and Natalie keeping it quiet rippled through Llanview. When you think about all of those things, it is a wonder that Viki and Charlie remained together.
Meanwhile, Clint loves Nora, but realizes that she still loves her ex-husband Bo, who is also his younger brother, even if she states that she wants to be with Clint. Nora and Bo kissed the night before the wedding, which was seen by their son Matthew and his gal pal Destiny. Matthew not wanting to hurt his uncle keeps this information a secret. Rachel also knows about the kiss as does Matthew's attorney Tea. This is a case of everyone ignoring the huge elephant in the room that Bo and Nora still have feelings for one another and finally are at a place where the pain of the past may not impede them having a future. Nora and Bo need to admit the truth, get over themselves and realize it is better to tell Clint the truth now before he gets even more hurt. On the other hand, Clint could just open his eyes or perhaps update the prescription of his glasses, see that Nora and Bo are horrible liars, give her a divorce/annulment, and his blessing for a reunion. So who will finally give Clint the heads up, that’s not for certain, but hopefully the reveal will create lots of fireworks.
