A wonderful surprise has been the burgeoning relationship between Annie and Aidan. Who would think trust would grow within the walls of Oak Haven? I was skeptical with how Aidan checked himself into the institution to look after Annie. What was his agenda, was it to cover himself for helping Annie when Di had Emma or something pure?
This past week, the reason for Dr. Sinclair going after Annie for Ritchie's death was revealed. The psychiatrist had fallen in love with Ritchie, while he was an inmate in Chicago. Hearing of his death made her vow to get revenge on the woman who sent him to prison and later killed him.
Watching Mr. Stone (Aidan's alias while in Oak Haven), and Annie talk through an air vent has been a pleasure. Who would have thought that would be the story getting my attention? When in the sextet (with Ryan, Zach, Greenlee and Kendall), I was bored by them, but Annie's madness has been entertaining. Usually I loathe insanity stories, but Annie falling apart came from a logical place. Her marriage fell apart, her brother was blackmailing her, her friends turned their back and she felt alone outside of Emma. Unfortunately Annie broke down, but the way this tale has been told, perhaps rehabilitation will be possible.
While I wasn't watching when Annie and Ryan became a couple or fell in love, so perhaps I missed something important about their relationship. Megan McTavish was still in the head writer's chair, and All My Children was not programmed to record. The break up of Annie and Ryan along with Greenlee and Aidan was not surprising. Neither couple could survive the Rylee juggernaut. Instead of tossing Aidan and Annie out the door, they provided an alternative. Annie is paying for what she is done by being separated from Emma, her daughter with Ryan.
Dr. Sinclair's secret past was revealed, and Annie ran away from Oak Haven. The part with Annie and Aidan in the background was hilarious. After that silliness, seeing Annie yet again run to Ryan to get him back was sad. I wish she could see that Ryan is not worth the effort as he cannot love her. When Aidan talked her down, like he had in the institution comforting her I melted. Hopefully Annie gets the help she needs, and finds happiness with Aidan.
