OLTL: The Death of Cramer Enterprises

In May, Dorian Lord took control of Buchanan Enterprises renaming the place Cramer Enterprises. While the takeover happened with a bang, the fallout, which returned the company to the Buchanans, was a bust.

The plan to get Buchanan Enterprises to the Buchanan family was very simple convince Dorian to give up the company willingly as all legal maneuvering proved to be unsuccessful. Clint with the help of private investigators found out that Langston Wilde had a living relative in Colombia. This man, Ray Montez is her mother's brother, who had been in prison for murder. Clint's plan was for Jared to pay Ray's way out of the country and force Dorian to give back the company to keep custody of Langston. If Ray had not shown up, Dorian would have been able to adopt the teen.

Clint went to the dark side, perhaps channeling his inner Asa without the help of his family. Natalie knew about the plan, but was horrified that Clint would use Jared that way. Cole after seeing Clint and Ray talking alerted Starr, Langston and Markko to this nefarious plan. Until then, they thought that Ray was genuine and wanted Langston in his life as she was family.

Dorian stood her ground. She wouldn't give in to Clint's blackmail even after Ray got custody of Langston and planned to take her back to Colombia. Dorian went to Jackie McNaughton and ordered a hit on Ray. The henchman tried to kill Ray at the Buchanan Mansion, but failed, so he went to the airport. Clint told everyone assembled that all Dorian would have to do is give the company back to him and Ray would leave Langston alone. Everyone was shocked and felt Dorian should have let CE go, except for Langston who felt that Dorian giving in to Clint may not have fixed anything anyway.

As Langston and her friends said goodbye, Dorian was visited by "Mel" and tried to call off the hit. On the phone, Clint told Ray to not take Langston out of the United States. Dorian saw the hit man dressed as a pilot and told John McBain about the gun. John shot at the gunman and Vanessa (Ray's wife) shot Ray fearing his wrath, as he should have been in prison for murder.

Vanessa ended up in Llanview because she met Cristian at the Colombian prison. Carlo Hesser kidnapped him and was given Ray’s jumpsuit. Vanessa paid off the guards to allow Cris to escape. To thank Vanessa, Cris agreed to take Vanessa and Lola (Ray’s daughter, Langston’s cousin and Vanessa’s step-daughter) to the US.

Ray went to Llanview Hospital to recover from his gunshot wound, and Vanessa went to lockup. Lola told the cops that Ray killed her mother, which is why he was in jail. Vanessa and Lola can remain in Llanview for now, as they came with fake passports. Ray was sent back to Colombia prison. Before he was extradited, Ray told a skeptical Antonio that Vanessa convinced Lola to lie, that he was innocent of killing Lola’s mother and that Cris should be careful.

Though upset with Clint for bringing Ray to Llanview, Nora helped him get back the company. She convinced Dorian to return Cramer Enterprises into the hands of the Buchanans. Nora told Dorian that she would go to trial for her part in Ray’s shooting. If she went to prison or was awaiting trial for conspiracy, Langston would be taken from her. “Mel” visited Dorian again, who convinced her to give up the organization.

Clint was thrilled with Nora’s news about getting Asa’s legacy returned to him and the Buchanan family. Nora was only bluffing as it would be hard to pin the crimes on Dorian, but it wasn’t worth the fight.

Is this the end of the feud between Dorian and Clint? Has she gotten past what happened between them? Has he forgiven her for her part in Nash’s death and let bygones be bygones as he got the company back? If and when David Vickers comes back will the reveal that he is Asa’s biological son make Buchanan Enterprises up for grabs yet again?

I hope this material is revisited eventually, as a feud shouldn’t end with everything back to normal with all the players happy. Dorian gets to keep Langston while she gave up the company facing no charges for what she has done. Clint gets Buchanan Enterprises back, and faces no real consequences for his part in bringing Ray Montez to town except for upsetting everyone, though since Ray is gone it should be forgotten in a snap. Ray goes back to prison where he belongs. Everything tied up in a nice little bow is not totally satisfying. Hopefully this seeds future story.
