B&B: Marriage for Hope and Wyatt

Hope (Kim Matula) on "The Bold and the Beautiful" finally got married. Her groom was Wyatt (Darin Brooks) after she was stood up by Liam (Scott Clifton). Liam rescued Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) from the Seine when unbeknownst to them Quinn (Rena Sofer) dropped her in the river.

Daytime Emmys Not on TV in 2014

It is official the Daytime Emmy Awards will only be available online and won't air on television. The streaming broadcast will be at http://daytimeemmys.net/ , which isn't yet active. Hopefully it will be viewable to people outside the US especially those in Canada.

Twin Peaks Anniversary

If you're a soap fan and also like mysteries or supernatural stories, and were old enough in 1990 you probably watched Twin Peaks. The show created by David Lynch was a cultural phenomenon and premiered as a special on a Sunday night. The Encyclopedia of TV Pets by Ken Beck and Jim Clark is another book in my collection. The over 300 page reference published in 2002 shares behind the scenes stories of the greatest in television animals in the 20th century.

Daytime Pre-Nominations Announced 2014

On Monday, March 3, 2014 Emmyonline.org posted the 41st annual drama performer pre-nominations. The final nominees will be announced on May 1, 2014. This year the winner will be decided based on who got the most votes during this round. Below is the list and my thoughts on those who were included this year.

Hollyoaks on Hulu

Hollyoaks, the British "teen" soap, is now available on Hulu and Hulu Plus. Currently 29 episodes are available starting from the season 19 finale (from 12/31/2013) through episode 28 of season 20, which aired in the UK on February 7, 2014.

Books about TV: TV Tie-Ins

"TV Tie-Ins" is a scholarly work that explores the evolution of paperback books that were written about particular programs. Written by Kurt Peer, it features both the history of these books (until 1990) along with a master list of every book that was found within this genre. Since this was published in the late 90s, all of this research was a lot more difficult to come by compared to how it could be done today.

Days: Pre-Emption Reminder

Days of Our Lives won't be on Thursday, February 20 due to the NBC Olympics coverage. The women's ice hockey gold medal game will air. The two teams playing are the US and Canada.

Y&R: Carmine's Murder

The Young and the Restless finally resolved the murder of Carmine Vasco (Marco Dapper). The character wasn't actually dead, but in witness protection.

EJ (James Scott) and Abby (Kate Mansi) fell into bed so to speak, as he wanted to keep her quiet about what supposedly happened to Nick (Blake Berris). Obviously this plot as a lot of detractors, but I wanted to write about what has happened so far in this Days of Our Lives story.

2013 Year in Review

CBS Daytime Renewal News

Earlier this week as part of TCA, a press release stated that CBS has renewed their daytime line-up for the 2014-2015 season. On top of that "The Young and the Restless" has a guaranteed spot through the 2017 season.

Soaps & the 8 Deadly Words

"I don't care what happens to these people." are the eight deadly words (for more information see tvtropes.org for the historical usage.) The concept is that the characters are so poorly written, that the audience stops being engaged in the story. While this originally comes from the world of science fiction, it can be applied to soap operas.
