AMC: Last Chance for Romance Marathon Part 2

In this entry, I am going to discuss the last four episodes that aired during the “last chance for romance” All My Children marathon on 9/18/2011.

Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Gillian (Esta TerBlanche) got married again on the April 9, 2001 episode. The two characters initially married not for love, but for profit. He thought she had money and vice versa, but they were both poor. They were going to have a simple event, but instead Dimitri decided to give them a great wedding on the grounds of Wildwind. Anna (Finola Hughes) had a flash of her General Hospital past with Robert. She was suffering from amnesia and didn't remember anything. Leo and Greenlee nearly missed the wedding as they were at court for David (Vincent Irizarry). This was about how David drugged people, and he did it all for Dixie. Leo was the best man with the rings, but thankfully he got there in time. Ryan and Gillian were happy and in love and that’s what mattered most of all.

The July 15, 2002 episode had Greenlee (Rebecca Budig) and Leo (Josh Duhamel) getting married at the boathouse. David had gotten off for what he did and he and Anna were together. They were the only witnesses to the ceremony. Unbeknownest to Greenlee, the man she knew as her father at that time, had been seriously injured and in surgery. It also came out that Simone was involved with Greenlee’s dad. Outside of Pine Valley, Tad (Michael E. Knight) and Brooke (Julia Barr) were looking for Maria (Eva LaRue), who had amnesia and was going by the name Maureen Gorman. They went to Florida, and found her.

The December 15, 2004 episode was about Zach (Thorsten Kaye) and Kendall (Alicia Minshew) getting a quickie divorce. He gave her a pin, and instead of divorcing, it seemed like they were on the road to reconciliation. By this point, Greenlee had left town due to Kendall getting pregnant with Ryan’s child. As a parting gift, Greenlee gave Babe a lot of power at Fusion. Meanwhile Amanda had been doing bad stuff, but was with Jamie. (Amanda changed a lot since this 2004 episode.) This upset JR, but later in the episode JR took his son to see Santa Claus. He ran into Babe and things became tense. Babe and Amanda wanted to destroy one another with Josh’s help. At the mall, Lily wanted to go Christmas shopping, but it was too much for her to handle due to her autism. She ran into Jonathan, who said he would shop for her and then ended up being the replacement Santa Claus. When JR saw that Jonathan was Santa, he obviously flipped due to Jonathan’s past criminal behavior.

The last episode that aired was the February 18, 2008 episode in which Angie (Debbi Morgan) and Jesse Hubbard (Darnell Williams) reunited at the train station after a separation of 20 years. The scenes were extremely romantic, lush and done on location. Erica who was about to be arrested for white-collar criminal activities hosted the Go Red Fashion Show. Aidan found out that Kendall might be pregnant. All the male characters got to see their love interests walk the runway in beautiful red gowns.

That’s my summary for the rest of the last chance at romance AMC marathon. While the episodes that aired focused upon specific couples, I appreciated seeing other characters and stories as well.
