Primetime TV Update: June 2019

Below is my list of what I finished in June 2019.

This month was a mixture of reality and scripted programming like May.

In reality shows, I finished the first season in forever on Bravo of "Project Runway" and "The Amazing Race" on CBS. PR felt strange with only Nina Garcia being a judge and the host/mentor etc. changing - not that I have any issue with former winner Christian as the mentor. The Amazing Race had an all reality star season. I think once certain fighting stopped it became more interesting.

When it comes to scripted shows, I watched Fx's limited series "Fosse/Verdon", "Designated Survivor" now on Netflix, "Luther", "Ill Behaviour", and "Guerilla", along with Fox's "Proven Innocent" and NBC's "Good Girls". Fosse/Verdon was for theater geeks, if you enjoy that sort of thing. Designated Survivor as advertised as a mash-up of 24/ER, and well hiring Anthony Edwards made it feel like old school ER just cause. I wish BBCAmerica hadn't waited so long to air Luther, as everything was spoiled as it aired on the BBC months ago. Ill Behaviour aired in the US on Showtime, but BBC in the UK, dark comedy about lymphoma, and kidnapping someone to treat them, yes it was funny, but dark and strange. Guerilla was a Sky show that aired on Showtime, and Idris Elba was a producer, which is why I tried it. It was a limited series about the British civil rights movement. Proven Innocent on Fox had very few viewers, with its Friday night at 9 pm ET slot, it isn't a surprise. At least the story was wrapped up well, and I liked that it was filmed in Chicago. Good Girls, season two left some things open in its storytelling.

Happy viewing!
