Y&R: Another Trip to the Altar, Another Disaster

So this past week on "The Young and the Restless", Nick (Josh Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case" got to the altar, but didn't get married. Below are my thoughts on this development.

The secret that Nick and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) had one night together, was kept quiet, but as more people discovered what happened, the eventuality became stronger. Summer intentionally spoke about it in front of Mariah, so Sharon would be told. Summer wanted Billy that badly, even after her father paid her off to keep her mouth shut.

Sharon came to the church late, and they went through the ceremony, but before the "I do", Sharon said she couldn't marry Nick. Nick had written his own vows, but she refuted and then rebuffed him. What was worse is before the event, Billy has just proposed to Phyllis. Eventually the wedding broke up, and everyone went their separate ways. Billy slept with Summer before leaving for rehab, Sharon continued to push Nick away, and Phyllis was devastated.

While I get why Sharon would act this way, having this happen in front of Faith was awful. I did appreciate that Noah returned for the unhappy event as Sharon and Nick's son should be in Genoa City for any wedding ceremony they have. The event also had Noah finding out about Mariah and Tessa making a go with a relationship, so his time in town wasn't just about his parents. I thought having Arturo and Abby talk about what happened also made sense. Arturo doesn't fully know the craziness of the Newman clan, and having him like Nick, but wonder why was appropriate. I figure this will be the end of Nick and Sharon for the next little while, until they decide to go there again. As they usually do every few years.
