AMC: Bianca finds love with Marissa

On All My Children, Bianca (Christina Bennet Lind) and Marissa (Sarah Glendening) aka Minx fell in love. With the end of the show on ABC, the story seems a bit rushed, but the program actually allowed the characters to consummate their relationship on screen.

Until this point, Marissa had been only involved with men. She had been torn between the Chandler cousins (Scott and JR). During this time, Marissa ended up adopting her sister’s child AJ, who is also JR’s son. Bianca has been clear about her sexuality since she was a teenager and even married one of her female love interests. That is partially how Bianca and Marissa became close as Marissa helped Bianca deal with her divorce and the custody issues she had with her former wife Reese, who is still in Europe.

Feelings between the two women surfaced as Bianca and Marissa were there for each other while their relationships broke apart. They understood each other’s problems and helped each other cope. Then again it could be the power of Bianca being a Kane woman, and she is more like her mother Erica that she thinks. Bianca’s daughter Miranda and AJ also became friends, and AJ stood up for Miranda when she was teased due to her mother being a lesbian. Ricky, the evil fiancé of Bianca’s sister Kendall, also held them hostage in a closet. Bianca started flashing back to when she was raped, and Marissa was able to calm her down.

When Marissa found out Bianca’s feelings she felt awkward. She had never had been attracted to another woman. Finding out that Bianca inspired JR’s wooing surprised Marissa, but Bianca understood her the way no one else did. Marissa took the initiative, told Bianca she wanted to be with her and kissed her. Bianca was glad, but seemed scared as she didn’t want to be a phase. When it came to sex, it was Marissa’s idea for them to be together when they were during this week’s shows.

So far, the only major character on AMC that takes offense to Marissa and Bianca is JR. Having your former wife, who you believe you are on the road to reconciling wife falling for her female best friend would be a blow to most men. JR has taken this badly and has lost his sobriety. His behavior has caused AJ to turn away from JR as he has become scared of his father.

Both of Marissa’s biological parents have been supportive of her relationship with Bianca. Of course, if either of them had a problem with it they would be hypocritical. They only came into her life as an adult, as she and her sister Babe were conceived during a one-night stand. Her mother Krystal sold Marissa as a baby (keeping Babe) and was complicit in the kidnapping of Miranda, allowing Bianca to believe her daughter was dead. Until recently her father David and Bianca had a good relationship, so him having a problem with Bianca and Marissa wouldn’t fit. Bianca’s sister Kendall was thrilled that Marissa wanted Bianca too.

Marissa and Bianca are being treated like any other couple on All My Children. They get to be affectionate and intimate. Hopefully they will be able to continue to grow closer until the show ends airing on ABC.
