Variety posted an exclusive article with Emmy news. NATAS (who is in charge of the Daytime Emmys, along with most regional, Sports and News awards) are going to have an app. The new app will air the live Daytime Emmy shows (as it is three nights in June). Below are my thoughts.
I am not sure how I feel about the app. Because you can't archive video as far as I know off of one, and I have many years of the Daytime Emmys saved. So that will kind of stink not being able to keep a show that I've kept copies of almost my entire adult life. What I'm hoping is they have or can get rights to older Daytime Emmys broadcasts, (I wonder how/if they could show clips from programs), as that would be appreciated. When it comes to original programming we shall see if any of it looks good.
