Claudette (Bree Williamson) abandoned her daughter Charlotte in Port Charles with her father Griffin (Matt Cohen). Claudette lied and said the girl was Nathan's (Ryan Paevey), but Maxie (Kirsten Storms) had another DNA test run proving otherwise. Below are my thoughts on this ongoing story.
A part of me wonders what to think as all we have is Claudette's word that Griffin's is the girl's father. Nathan and Claudette were married, and she cheated with Griffin. Nathan got really upset and shot his romantic rival. Valetin (James Patrick Stuart) and Claudette also had a relationship off camera, and the girl was put into danger. That's why Charlotte lived in hiding. Griffin meanwhile isn't sure he can be a father due to being a priest. Anna (Finola Hughes) wants to help, considering the girl is thought to be Duke's grandchild.
I'm waiting for something to happen like we find out that she isn't Claudette's after all. It wouldn't be the first time that GH did a bait and switch with the maternity of a child. Since it is uncertain when Bree Williamson would be available to return, one has to wonder. Lulu has a missing embryo, could she be Charlotte's biological mother, and then the question is if the girl was a Cassadine. There is also the unresolved issue of Nathan's paternity.
GH has a lot of paternity stories they can develop. Instead of creating a new one, please explore one that is on-going. With Bree Williamson out as Claudette, I hope they continue this in a way that makes sense. Hopefully, some of this will be revealed before Nathan and Maxie wed on New Year's Eve.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
