On "The Young and the Restless", another August wedding took place as Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick (Josh Morrow) got married. The couple's ceremony was a small affair, which I'll write about more below the cut.
Nick and Sage made the spur of the moment decision to marry quickly. They just had a baby shower for their upcoming child and wanted to no longer postpone making it legal. The event was held at the place where nearly every wedding takes place: Katherine Chancellor's park. The last two weddings that Nick planned ended without an "I do", so perhaps a quiet event was the best decision. (His nuptials to Sharon were stopped by Phyllis returning from her coma and Avery jilted him at the altar.)
This wedding was on a "low" budget as only Nick's kids were in attendance. Noah (Robert Adamson) had planned to marry in the park, so this was a bit odd, but he wanted to support his dad. He wasn't the official "best man", but still gave his Dad words of encouragement. Noah's new girlfriend Marisa (Sofia Pernas) helped decorate the park and was allowed to stay. Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) was the flower girl. Summer (Hunter King) was surprised that Kyle (Lachlan Buchanan) could perform the ceremony. After the vows, Kyle asked the couple to put them in a box with some champagne for them to drink on their 50th anniversary. Once Mariah (Camryn Grimes) found out what was going on, she was upset. Even though Nick isn't her biological father, her twin sister was raised by Nick and in some ways felt like another of Nick's children. (Considering Mariah initially thought that Nick was hitting on her instead of showing fatherly concern says how their relationship changed.)
The ceremony didn't have much of a wow factor, but considering it was the second wedding in a non-sweeps month I guess this is to be expected. I find it interesting that Y&R now puts what tended to be huge events in August. Perhaps they save money on weddings to spend them on special effects for the next sweeps "disaster".
