Thoughts about "The Doctors" - October 1969

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of October 1969.
Althea and Nick's awkward relationship continued and it got even worse once Althea started working in the lab. Althea and Martha didn't get along at all leaving Nick and Steve in the middle. Elizabeth Hubbard's last episodes as Althea aired in October of 1969, so now Virginia Vestoff is in the role. I hope it is intentional that the character is so unlikable. Althea also now "feels" something for Steve, though she hasn't come between Steve and Carolee yet. (There was a disastrous dinner party, where Carolee cooked, and Nick got drunk prior to Liz leaving the role.) Carolee lied while out with Steve to Nick and Althea, so they could have dinner in peace.

Jody Lee was back in his hometown without a proper on screen goodbye and C.C. Courtney who played the part disappeared from the credits. Liz was back from visiting her father and taking an introspective drive around New England. She was happier and stronger than ever.

Anna continued work in the public relations department. Since Mr. Lou Grant agreed to work for her, she had a new employee. Lou, was discharged from the hospital, and became better friends with Martha.

Much of the month was about Mike's woes at the hospital. He "lost" it and destroyed the physical therapy room. No one was hurt, except for Mike, who had to be restrained and was hit to get him under control. Much of the equipment was severely damaged. Matt agreed to pay to replace everything. This was leaked by the security guard, who seemingly had an issue with the Powers family. Nancy and Paul missed all of this mayhem as they left town before it happened. Their reunion is what caused Mike to misbehave on the job. Julie continued to be a bit of a nuisance and Maggie worried about both her stepson and her husband's careers. The hospital board is still deciding what to do about the incident.

Those were the highlights of October 1969. I'll really miss Liz Hubbard on "The Doctors", because she has been such a huge part of the series.
