AMC: Thoughts on Episodes 31 & 32

Here are my thoughts and a brief summary about episodes 31 & 32 (July 22, 2013) of All My Children.

Note: I number these without the "More episodes" included in the count. On Hulu, these are episodes 43 & 44.

Episode 31:

Miranda and AJ get ready to go to the beach, they leave and take the guitar. Miranda and AJ are outside at the beach. He puts lotion on her back and spells Oliver on it. Heather and some other girls join them, and Miranda looks disappointed. Rachel and Kirsten are with Miranda and Hunter and Kyle come up to them. Hunter makes a rude comment about the girls spending time with Miranda so they leave. Hunter and Kyle continue to harass Miranda, while Heather and AJ are walking by themselves and he invites Heather to the gala.

JR wants to help Chandler and asks Brooke if he can make a sizzle reel for the show. Brooke thinks this is a great idea, which surprises JR and he goes off to get it done. Dimitri is concerned that JR is in charge of such a large project. JR gets upset and Dimitri sees how he overreacts with an employee named Jay. Back at the mansion, JR shoots himself up with more steroids. When his computer acts up, JR throws it to the ground. Dixie finds JR picking up the broken computer. JR tells his mother that he will prove everyone wrong with this sizzle reel. Dixie goes to see Brooke at the studio. Brooke makes a comment about how Adam won't be there until season two. They discuss how JR is working on the reel, but there is no guarantee it will get him what he wants at the Chandler family company.

Pete and Celia nearly kiss and Colby walks into the Chandler living room. Colby drags Celia out to go to the Talk Tempo studio before Pete can finish his conversation with Celia. Colby wants Celia to agree that they won't argue about Pete. Brooke, Celia and Colby have a meeting about the party at the television studio. Colby needs to take a call with the caterer. When alone, Brooke shares with Celia that Pete really wants to be with her due to how he was a gentleman when they went to New York. Colby and Pete are back at Jane's Addiction, they discuss Celia and their friends with benefits relationship. Colby wonders where the Pete went that would have jumped him in a flash, and he says that he may have changed. Pete has left and David goes to chat with Colby. David says he has a plan that will shake up the town and Colby is interested. Celia has a fantasy that Pete finds her a public bench and they talk. He tells her that she's the only one he wants to date and they kiss. Celia then has another nightmare and starts screaming.

Abramo sets up to take a special photograph of Billy Clyde.

General thoughts about the episode:

Dimitri told Brooke that Dixie got to her in regards to JR. I figure those scenes hit the cutting room floor as either they were really short or didn't air. The outdoor taping was appropriate since characters do go to the beach that being said I wish they would say whether or not school was out for the summer. Since the adults were working, I'm guessing school is out, but it is vague. I really want them to finally get on with the Celia story. There were spoilers saying things happened in it, but that never aired. The Billy Clyde scene in this episode was filler.

Episode 32:

Colby is in bed with David and she takes her cellphone. He says he doesn't want to make a sex tape. She says that's not what she is doing, but she wants to act like Brooke interviewing him. They do a mock interview, but he stops her and they share a kiss.

Pete is waiting outside of Cassandra's room and Angie speaks with him. Cassandra isn't up to having him visiting, but Pete tells her that he will do what he can for her. Pete calls Colby about Cass. Colby then rushes to get dressed to see her friend, and David had no idea they were friends. David tells Colby that Cass isn't in a good way, but he'll drive her to the hospital. Colby is in Cassandra's room and she's trying to engage Cass as she brought makeup. Finally she breaks through as she said how Cass was her only friend. Cass looks at herself in the mirror, and then starts to freak out, and wants her to leave. Colby says she's not going to leave her. Cassandra mentions how she is pregnant after being raped repeatedly and now she wants to die. Colby hugs Cassandra and tells her that she accepts her having an abortion. Cassandra says there is no part of her that wants this baby. Cassandra asks if Colby hates her, but Colby says she loves her. Cassandra also says that Colby is her only real friend. Colby goes to David and hugs him in tears.

Opal is with Jane and she's complaining about David slithering into the Cortlandt family business. Brooke comes for coffee and she and Opal hug. Brooke invites Opal to the studio for a chat as Jane and Opal continue to gossip. Opal comes to talk with Brooke while Dimitri looks on, Brooke overs her the job of color commentary for the Chandler media opening. Opal excitedly tells Pete about her potential new job. Pete tells his mother there is only one woman he wants to be with and it isn't Colby.

Dudley is Billy Clyde's manservant and Joe came over to the mansion to see the new owner not knowing it was Billy Clyde. Joe wonders what Billy Clyde wants, and he wants help to be philanthropic. He wants to give a charitable donation anonymously, so Dixie won't know the money came from him. Joe brings the check to Dixie and says that he is not at liberty to say who gave it to him. He says the reason for the check was atonement. Dixie figures out the check was from Billy Clyde. Dixie sees Billy Clyde reading Sophisticate. She goes up to him and wordlessly gives him a letter. Dixie's letter mentions how he helped AJ and thanked him. They thank each other verbally and Dixie leaves with coffee.

David tells Angie that he understands why Jesse did what he did. He is shocked to find out that Angie had no idea what Jesse had been doing. Angie says she is grateful to have David to lean on in this time.

Brooke and Dimitri go to Jane's Addiction, Brooke goes to the bathroom to freshen up though her phone rings. It is Adam, Dimitri picks up says hello and he hung up the phone. Dimitri tells her they could take an earlier flight, but before going to the airport Brooke decides to call Adam again.

General thoughts about the episode:

There was a P&G reference on this episode of AMC. Billy Clyde was reading Sophisticate, which was a Cory Publication from Another World. When did Dixie find out that Billy Clyde helped AJ, we didn't see her finding out and AJ doesn't know Billy Clyde. Even though it is an odd relationship I like seeing Joe with Billy Clyde as Joe is not scared. I like the idea of Opal doing red carpet commentary though her clothing style isn't exactly chic. Colby showed a different side when with Cassandra and wasn't so vapid. I had been concerned they had forgotten that they were pals and wanted to see some sort of interaction.
