Tattletales: Soap Actors on 80s Game Show

In the 1970s and 1980s, the game show Tattletales aired on CBS Daytime. The show featured couples in which at least one of the people was a celebrity answering questions about each other winning money for the people in the audience. The episodes I discuss below are from the 1980s.

On YouTube.com there are a couple special episodes that had actors who played opposite one another on CBS daytime that played the game. Unlike the regular episodes, the performers weren't real life couples. GSN rebroadcast some of these shows, which is how we can see them today. The actors are listed in the order of the sections that they represented (blue, yellow and red though on the program the yellow section was called the banana section.)

On one episode from 1983, Deborah Adair (Jill) and Jerry Douglas (John) from The Young & The Restless, Meg Ryan (Betsy)  and Frank Runyeon (Steve) from As the World Turns and Leslie Graves (Brenda) and Bill Byers (Wally) from Capitol were the contestants. The other episode also from 1983 had other CBS daytime soap performers. Krista Teserau (Mindy) and Grant Aleksander (Phillip) from Guiding Light, Constance Towers (Clarissa, though most of us know her from her role as Helena on General Hospital) and Ed Nelson (Mark) from Capitol and Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and Brian Matthews (Eric) from The Young & The Restless.

Another episode I found was from 1982, this isn't only with soap opera people, but still interesting. This was the first time they had actors who played couples on television, competing on the show. Lorenzo Lamas and Ana Alicia from Falcon Crest, Franklin Cover and Roxie Roker from The Jeffersons and Christopher Holder (Kevin) and Melody Thomas (Nikki) from The Young & the Restless were the contestants.

Tattletales is similar to "The Newlywed Game" except for the celebrity aspect and that the stars win nothing except for bragging rights. If you have the time or inclination, these episodes are fun blasts from the past.
