GH: Frisco's Back
This week on General Hospital, Frisco Jones (Jack Wagner) returned to Port Charles. I was waiting to write this post until we saw more with the character, but since that hasn't happened yet I felt the need to vent.
Frisco has been away from Port Charles since the 90s. He wasn't there for many of the highlights of his daughters' lives including the funeral of his younger daughter Georgie (Lindze Leatherman) or the near-wedding of his older daughter Maxie (Kirsten Storms).
This week Maxie saw her biological father after all these years. Sadly it ended with a cliffhanger that still has not been picked up yet. Maxie hasn't seen Frisco since she was a child, and we get nothing. I'm absolutely befuddled by this because it really doesn't make sense. General Hospital promoted the return of Jack Wagner and we get a few scenes and then nothing. I just don't get the logic of it.
The other earlier scenes with Frisco involved him seeing his former wife Felicia (Kristina Wagner) after all these years and her on again off again love interest Mac (John J. York). While Felicia was off doing other things, Mac was a parent to Frisco and Felicia's girls and loved them as his own. Mac is their father in all the ways that mattered. Thankfully they allowed Mac to get some zingers in about that situation as it would have rankled if it was all about how great Frisco is. (I say this as a person who prefers Frisco as a character to Mac. I also am not someone who was into Mac and Felicia as a couple back in the 90s as I found them a bit dull. It got to the point, that when Felicia was off canvas, I imagined that somehow Felicia found Frisco again and they were undercover saving the world together.)
I'm glad that GH was able to do this story finally. I can understand why it took so long as there are real life reasons why it was never told namely Jack Wagner was employed elsewhere, Kristina and Jack were married and now are divorced and for a lot of years Kristina was also off the series. I'm glad they are able to work together now, so we may get some resolution to what happened on screen all those years ago. Regardless of how this story ends, I hope this story will pick up again and soon.
