Soap Stars in Other Place: A Mermaid for Christmas

This holiday movie is available on Amazon Prime for a limited time, below are my thoughts.

A Mermaid for Christmas is a fun though a bit silly holiday flick (as most are) starring current and former soap stars. Here is a quick rundown about it.

The movie stars Kyle Lowder, as a widower, who is potentially losing his bar after losing his wife. The cost of medical bills for his late wife (played by Nadia Bjorlin) nearly bankrupted him, his former girlfriend played by Ari Zuker wants his land to redevelop the community. Kathleen Gatti played his mom with an American accent, and Jessica Morris played the mermaid (a woman who was cursed and only allowed to be on land for 10 days every 100 years) who had to do something selfless to regain her humanity for good.

When it comes to the story it isn't a traditional holiday flick in one sense as typically they don't mix mythology of this kind to Christmas. It does have certain regular Christmas things (a grinch/miser figure in Ari Zucker's part), a montage of the main characters falling in love and doing silly things, and a subplot where secondary characters realize they love one another.

If someone has the time and interest in any of the actors listed above it is worth the effort to seek it out or if you want a slightly different themed holiday movie.
