Daytime Emmy News from Variety

This week, Variety has posted two articles about the Daytime Emmys. Below are highlights and thoughts on this.

The first article was about what happened with the voting for 2019's awards. The irregularities about voting were mentioned like how someone voted the top scores for one, and the rest got zero, so the vote was thrown out. There were two or three instances where people voted with such bias that their votes didn't count. In no cases did it influence the winner, but it would have changed the nominations. They did not state who lost out either way.

The second article was the possibility of combining the Younger Actor and Actress awards at the show. There is only one guest Emmy, so having one for younger performers would not be a precedent. I'm not sure what I think of this, as while there aren't as many people eligible, there is always a possibility that someone will get screwed. Also having the digital casts mixed in with the traditional shows may be an issue.
