Below is a quick write-up about the 4th of July related episodes of the US soaps for 2019. <--more-->--more-->
The "Bold and the Beautiful" used the 4th to juxtapose Hope's life in 2018 to 2019. In 2018, she was telling Liam, she was pregnant during the fireworks. In 2019, Thomas with Douglas' help was proposing to her. Otherwise we had character mentioned outside, but nothing more.
"Days of Our Lives" had a BBQ hosted by the newly married Rex and Sarah, remembering how years ago Bo and Hope had a Brady/Horton 4th of July celebration. Since they are the new Brady/Horton duo, this was as good as time as any to bring this back. Rex and Eric got into a fight about how to make the food, but Eric's old school style (not using gas) won the taste test. Rex though got to make the holiday speech, and on the 4th, whomever gets the "speech" wins (at least that's how I saw it.) Before the big party, Carrie (whose marriage in England to Austin is failing) and Rafe had sex, before she left town. In happier news, Eli proposed to Lani and she said yes. Jennifer watched Eve and Jack kiss, and Hope gave her ring back to Rafe as their marriage is finished.
"General Hospital" didn't air and didn't celebrate this year.
"Young and the Restless" had a multi-day carnival event. It was for the holiday, but it wasn't on that day only. The 4th of July episode did mention the 4th and is the only one I am writing about here. Jack and Phyllis have words about Summer, and it isn't friendly. Phyllis does invite Jack to her work party. Lola admits to her Mother Celeste that she and Kyle live together. Celeste meets Jack, Traci and Cane at the Abbott mansion, and Celeste seems to like Jack. Lola and Kyle decide to enjoy the holiday alone, as Celeste begged off going to the carnival. Mariah, Tessa, Kevin, and Ana are the at carnival. Kevin pays someone to play Tessa's new song. Jack went to Phyllis' party, and Adam didn't attend, Lauren and Michael do arrive, but Summer does not. Phyllis isn't happy, and they leave. Traci and Cane interact and speak about both being in NYC at the same time.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
