Thoughts about "The Doctors" July & August 1977

Another two month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired in July and August 1977.

Mike was devastated as Toni died in a plane crash on her way back to Madison. The funeral was off camera, and eventually he went back to work at Hope Memorial. Dr. Jesse was being a good friend to Mike, and explained her life.

Jerry and Penny reunited off camera, and he is going to finish his law degree. Althea and Dave were also getting along. Maggie and Matt received a letter from Althea with the updates on the lives of the Davis women. Sara continued her job at Jason's law firm.

Doreen still didn't like Jason with Nola, but she was recast with Pam Lincoln. Doreen wanted Luke to fire his sister from Andre's as no one was coming. Doreen's affair with Luke continued, as Luke still lived with Eleanor. Wendy still was causing issues for Eleanor, as she didn't want Luke to get her money. Eleanor gave Luke some financial help for the restaurant.

Ann's actions of keeping Carolee away from her family were discovered. Ann hadn't deleted the records fully and she was caught in her lies of being Irene Lomax. Dr. Brandt seemed to recognize Ann, but it has been months. Steve was angry when this came out, and blasted Ann. Mona was upset over siding with Ann over her own son, and felt betrayed, telling Annie that Steve never loved her, though she had as a daughter. Ann eventually went home to her apartment, and then left town. By the end of the August, Jason found Annie in Rio. Steve went with him, but didn't see Ann though he really wants an annulment. Annie lied and said she miscarried, but she was still four months pregnant, and planned to have Steve's baby. Carolee decided to move into the Aldrich house while Steve was out of town for a convention in San Francisco. Carolee also spent some of the time in Wyndham falls off camera with Erich and Steffy. (Erich was recast in this period with Thor Fields.)

MJ and Tom got engaged, which is part of why Carolee needed a new home, as there wouldn't be space for Carolee to live with MJ after Tom and MJ wed. MJ's sister Betsy, brother-in-law, and their son Ricky came to visit for the wedding. MJ was wearing their grandmother's dress, and Maggie would host the bridal shower. Virginia was going to have a place of honor as Tom's surrogate mom at the ceremony.

Those were the highlights of "The Doctors" for July and August 1977. I'm glad that Annie finally got her comeuppance.
