Days of Our Lives said goodbye to Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abby (Kate Mansi) as the characters reunited and moved to Paris with their children. Below are my thoughts.
Chad and Abby had a "traditional" Days couple happy ending. They got to leave alive with their children and move to Paris. (Jack and Jennifer moved away to the UK in a similar fashion, and Bo and Hope got a trip around the world.) Chad and Abby had recently reconciled after all of their issues, both of her kids were biologically theirs, and they rewed in the Horton living room. Abby wore a white suit, JJ played the guitar, Thomas was the ring bearer, and Julie performed the service. Since Julie couldn't marry Rafe and Hope, but was "ordained" by the internet, she could marry them. Also in attendance were Doug, Jack (who without his memories, wanted to support his daughter), Jennifer, baby Charlotte, and Kate.
Chad and Abby forgave each other for all their mistakes, and wanted to move on with their lives. Chad took a job in Paris giving up the CEO of Dimera Enterprises, and they would be happy without being stuck in Stefan's lair.
I liked that Days let these characters go in a positive way. I'd prefer a goodbye of this nature especially when kids are involved, and since Chad already had to "mourn" Abby, I'm relieved we didn't have to sit through that story again. We'll see if we see either character in the future, but the door remains open with such a departure.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
