Daytime Emmys 2018 (Digital Drama Award Issues)

The Daytime Emmys were handed out in April, but controversy mars the event due to the mishandling of the digital drama categories. Below are links to the story of what happened.

Simply put there were submission gaffes, and awards were given and then taken away in the Guest Actress category. Patrika Darbo from "The Bay" won, and then was made ineligible - the award was then given to Jennifer Bassey from "Anacostia" who was also told her submission was incorrect. Eventually NATAS who runs the whole thing decided that no one would win this award. For further fuel in the fire, another category supporting actor in a digital drama, an actor got to keep his award even though his "reel" was not according to standards.

People involved with digital dramas got frustrated by the entire situation, and now one wonders if certain programs will submit next year. I believe that NATAS needs to do a better job, and make sure everyone is following the rules. It shouldn't be that difficult, if it is about episode count, or maximum amount of time, they need to make a standard and stick to it. It makes everyone look awful if things are not done in a logical manner.
