Thoughts about "The Doctors" - June 1975

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of June 1975.

Mike made it back to Madison. He was promptly thrown in jail by Cadman, as a fraud. When Matt met the supposed imposter, he realized it was his son. Mike was freed, but of course resented Matt's part in his arrest. Upon seeing Hank, Mike was thrilled, and they were acting "normal" with one another. Hank took his new face in stride. He also had good reunions with Maggie who cried, and Martha. Maggie did admit that Mike coming to town, seeing Greta, but not telling her who his real identity hurt the teen.

Ann continued to live at the Aldrich house, which didn't help the strain for the family. Carolee felt like she was the least important person in Steve's life, as he was more interested in appeasing Karen and/or being a comfort to Ann. Althea tried to reason with Steve, but he seems to not know how to keep everyone happy, making everyone miserable. Erich has been wanting to avoid both Carolee and Karen, though after an off screen trip to Andrew and Emma, he's back to loving Carolee. That visit took place, when Karen and Erich were to have gone to the circus with Steve. (Steve basically had to be a buffer, between Erich and either mother.) Steve also feared that Stephanie's birth and conception would be used against him in court.

Andy, Penny and Stacy became a bit of a triangle. It seems like Penny doesn't like any girl getting more attention from a guy even if she wasn't really into Andy beyond the fact that he had a double-sided single. Penny wanted to be a better doctor than Althea, which is why she was back in Madison, and wanting to be a full-time student at Hope University in the autumn. She was accepted first in the summer program, and now as a regular student. Tom met Penny, and Maggie gave Penny the advice that Tom mentioned about his regrets over his family relationships.

Toni wanted to be with Alan, even with Mike being alive. She didn't want to upset either of her husbands, as technically Mike was still her husband, and she was a bigamist. (Though if she didn't get the paperwork that Mike was legally dead, the marriage shouldn't have happened.) Toni ended up moving out of Margo's apartment (aka the apartment they lived in that caused the final breaks in the Margo and Alan marriage.) She and Michael Paul moved in with Martha. Mike told Toni that he wanted custody of their child, and to bring the boy to Singapore, which shocked Toni.

Those were the highlights of June 1975, like last month all episodes were available. My favorite scene was when Matt realized he was talking to Mike, and the gladness though heartbreak he felt about everything that happened.
